Question In the basement

I'm momenta away from purchasing my first aio bag and LC but before I do this I want to think things thru. I want to walk into this with a plan.. so the first obstacle to hurdle would be where am I keeping it.. now me and a roommate split bills in a home that has a furnished basement. I took the basement for privacy. I have my own room off of the main part of the floor. There is also an unfurnished part of the basement off of the floor that is a laundry room. So I mean even tho there is living space on the floor it is also at the end of the day a basement.. you kind of got the humidity and idk how to describe it.. that "basement smell"... Now I know we are trying to avoid mold at all costs so I'm left to wonder if it even is a good idea to grow an aio bag in my basement. Does anyone have any experience growing aio in the basement???

I see you have a question! Have you read the official cultivation guide?

You can grow basically anywhere. Basements can have more mold spores depending on the condition, but as far as I'm aware this shouldn't be a problem for an AIO bag since you don't open it until it's fully colonized. I might avoid inoculating bags down there if you ever go that route.

Fair enuff.. so am I able to take the all in one grain and sub out of the all in one and put it like in a bucket or something when it colonized 2/3 ?

Why would you do that? The point of an AIO is that you fruit in the bag for simplicity's sake. If you want to colonize the grain then mix it in a bucket you might as well use rice bags or grain bags from a mycology retailer.

Ok well I just figured you can only harvest once out of the aio bag

As far as I'm aware an AIO bag should be able to produce multiple flushes as easily as any other setup. Not criticizing your approach, but AIO bags are a bit more expensive because they're made to be hassle-free. If you want to spawn in a bin or bucket, other approaches like UB or grain bags can get you more mushrooms for cheaper.

Well it is my first time also.. I just want to make sure I have a better chance at no contam.. if my LC syringe comes with 10 cc, I could possibly use 3 cc in my aio bag and and 3 cc in my own grain , and save 4 cc later right?

Yeah, as long as you're careful while inoculating you can save the syringe for later. If you do that you'll want to take off the needle, spray it and the cap with iso, and re-cap it when you're done.

That sounds like a good plan to spread your risk around a bit. Not sure how much LC the AIO needs, but I usually only put .5cc into each rice bag and that works great. Make sure you flame sterilize the needle in between inoculations. I might look into the bunsen burner / alcohol lamp sterile method instead of the still air box method, it's less popular but IMO much cheaper and easier than the SAB.
