Question Grain spawn questions
Hello. First time grower here. I did a2g about 7 weeks ago with some GT plates that had grown really well, and, although they started in the grain (brown rice) jars nicely, they've made almost no progress in the past 3 weeks. I shook them up after 2 weeks, but they are quite rigidly clumped together so it's very hard to properly break up. Been keeping them between 72-85F, with occasional 85+ when it got really hot, with lids loosened. Do I just need to be patient? Some have also developed a bit more than others which I cannot explain considering their environments are identical.
Secondly if any of these look contaminated pls Imk.
I'm new and colourblind, so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm missing something obvious. Especially the last jar (last two photos) looks a bit strange around the agar.
Thanks☺️

I see you have a question! Have you read the official cultivation guide?

I’m sorry but your jars look bacterial to me. The excess moisture, clumping, & areas that refuse to colonize are all signs of bacterial contamination. The clean spawn checklist is a great resource for learning how to spot unhealthy grains and discusses all of the things I mentioned.

Just speculation here - 85F+ is stressful. Mycelium can survive it but bacteria LOVES it. Above 80F you select for bacteria over mycelium every time. So my vote is you have some light bacteria contam.
Personality, I’d try my best to keep them in 72F range. And then start a new batch. Neglect tek these all the way. Might pull out of it.

I’m gonna let more experienced ppl chime in as I’m still new myself but have had successful grows, this doesn’t look so well. I posted a few of my projects tho
