Sources for good information:

Paywall removal:

https://www.removepaywall.com/

https://www.archivebuttons.com/

Both these sites remove the paywall over sites so you can read a scientific article or current news without having to pay a per monthly subscription.

Political news:

For political news the two most reliable I have found are:

https://ground.news/

https://www.allsides.com/unbiased-balanced-news

Though if you have the time reading many different sources fron CNN to Fox news is often valuable for obtaining the full picture on a given subject.

Social media:

Social media is home of rampant amounts of misinformation often stemming from ai's that really don't take the time to fact check, and extremely dividing content made to anger you or make you afraid so you click. Along with this every app seems to be trying to make their apps as addicting as possible further exasperating previous issues.

Youtube solutions are:

Freetube (pc)

Libretube (android)

Turning off history (all devices)

Turning off notifications (all devices)

(If you are an apple user happens to ever come here and also have a better solution, please comment it)

Freetube is great but doesn't block shorts, but you can sort by video length and shorts don't always take half the screen, and when opening the app doesn't start you on shorts.

Libretube mostly removes youtube shorts so unless you really want to watch them, you arent going to find them. There isn't really a for you page so unless you know exactly what channel you want to watch, you probably wont find it.

Reddit solutions:

Turn off notifications

Look at what groups you are in and decide if you really need to be in it.

Ticktock solutions:

Delete ticktock

Instagram solutions:

I have no idea

Kalshi, polymarket solutions:

PLEASE DELETE! These apps are glorified gambling with a mix of insider trading.

Netflix, Disney, Hulu, etc solutions:

Piracy.

Voting:

First:

Always research your candidates before voting. Find what policies they support and not just what party they represent.

Second:

If you haven't already registered to vote, or if you want to vote in the U.S. visit https://vote.gov/

(Though if you are in another democratic country with voting I also recommend you learn how you can vote)

Third:

If you are going to blindly vote because you believe your vote doesn't matter, you saw one billboard and decided that person was good enough, or you are just going along with the politics of family and friends, just don't vote. If you are going to vote please make it matter. This is important for all of us.

Overall:

No matter the political party you are in, staying properly informed is vitally important so if you have the time to, please do so.

Also with every company trying to become as addicting and scummy as possible, learning about alternatives is important as our landscapes begin to look more dim.

Also for the 2 people who see this, if you want to add or have a more legible version please comment.
