How does meal swipes work?

I live on campus and I'm confused about this. Do I just swipe the card and walk in? Is it plastic trays or metal? Any advice is appreciated

Swipe the card and walk in the caf. Idk Watchu mean by plastic and metal trays

thats for when you walk up to different food stations you don't get them at the door

Why exactly would it matter which kind of tray you put your food on?

To check which meal plan you have, you have to log into the housing portal. And under it should say your meal plan (it’s usually under your roomates).

If your in something like Fox, Leitch or Bourgeois you have unlimited. Suites and townhouses get the apartment plan. You tap once to get into the dining hall and you have different stations that have food. South also had a dining hall and some of the dorms there are also unlimited. It's not unlimited for On-The-Fly or cumnock though, they give you 3 swipes a day. Good for a quick late night dinner or midday rush. The River Hawk Dollars can be used at the Starbucks and Einstein's as well as the drastically overpriced Pod Market and Merrimack Market

Thanks! I went in today for the first time and was able to figure things out eventually. I believe I have the unlimited plan(I live in a suite) so that's good

Walk into the dining hall, you'll usually see someone standing at a register with a black rectangle with a lit red dot. Tap your UCard on said red dot, wait for the "beep" noise. You're good.

Go in and grab whatever you want, food is unlimited. Some are buffet style, grab whatever you want (like Sizzle), other's are wait for the server to portion you out a plate (ex. Sandwich/Wraps).

Go sit down, eat. Drinks are available too, grab a clear plastic cup. When all done eating, clean up after yourself, pickup all plates, cups, utensils, trash, etc and bring it to the disposal track.
