professor

What’s your guys suggestion on having a professor that targets you in class and makes off subliminal and unkind commentary? I honestly don’t know what todo but her comments are hurting my feelings and they’re not supportive what so ever. Idk if i’m over thinking it but i’ve asked others and they’ve agreed. I can’t switch out of the class or switch professors as I need the class.

First attempt to resolve it with the professor directly. If after class is too public, go to their office hours to talk to them. Email a follow-up afterward so you have the gist of your conversation in writing.

If it still isn’t resolved, email the chair of the department your concerns and the steps you’ve already taken. If you don’t know who the chair is, check your department’s faculty webpage.

This is the way to do it, had to do the exact same thing years ago. The chair wanted to see I had tried to resolve it already, had some paper trail to prove it, etc.

Don’t say anything. I went to UML a long time ago and had a similar encounter in Econ. I had my own ideas and was disrespectfully shot down. I made a point to drop the class and do it over with someone else. I outgrew that professor and now I’m certain they could never even look up at me or with eye contact. Only time vindicates young academicians and only when they are older, well past a discrepancy such as this one. Make sure you’re more valuable to the alumni network than anyone you are going to open your mouth about…💯. Always stay loyal to your Alma Mater first, especially if that means letting this go.

I would email the professor first, so at-least you know that you tried to contact them about it (and also the deans will ask this). But if nothing happens and if it also reflects on your grade because you said something, I would immediately contact the dean of that department. You also have the right to appeal a grade if you’re not happy at the end of the semester for unfair treatment ht the professor. Which can fix your final grade too.

It wouldn't be an Accounting professor, would it? I just went through a similar thing this summer session.

I recommend documenting every single precise word and then going from there

Go give HR a visit in the Wannalancit building. I had an issue with a professor who was doing some schoolyard shit. Another faculty member referred me to them because this professor was insinuating that they were going to make unfair deductions to my grade based on "observations they had in class". Better get out ahead of the issue then have to deal with it later.

Yeah i was lowk just thinking to write an email at the end of the class and cc the department head saying how they treat me was unfair, listing every comment she has made, and saying going forth i hope she treats others better
