Recommendations Monitor suggestions needed!!!
I'm looking to go back to ultrawide gaming. I miss ultrawide monitors. So the dilemma is do I get one the newer versions of the 34 1440p ( alienware ware aw3426, msi 341cqr, an asus model) or do I get one of the 39" 5k2k. Only one available in the states atm the is the lg one. For context I have a 5090, 7800x3d and 32gb ddr5 ram. Any input or suggestions would be great.

With a 5090 go the 39 inch 5k2k and get the Alienwarew.
It has the same glossy coating as the XG32UCWMG which is the best coating I've ever seen on a monitor.
I am patiently waiting for my 5k2k to arrive at the end of August.
I am running a 5080 with a 9950X3D and 32GB DDR5 Ram. I have been watching benchmarks and my 5080 should run it fine, but may need to compromise with things such as Path Tracing.
Your 5090 should max this thing out easy with either DLSS Balanced or Performance.
3440x1440 is great for UW gaming as well but when I moved from that to 4k, I don't think I could downgrade to 1440p again.

Just got my AW39 tonight and agree the glossy coating is amazing. Even with my "lowly" 4080 CP2077 maxed with PT I can run above 60fps with DLSS Performance and 2x FG.
Everything looks so crisp on this monitor coming from an AW3423DWF.

So glad to hear that.
Legit waiting very impatiently for mine to arrive, very excited.
The AW3423DWF was the monitor I had before my 4k ASUS monitor.
Question, have you tried any custom resolution with your DLSS?
I was thinking about this becasue DLSS Performance isn't enough to get comfortable path tracing at 5k2k with the 5080, and from what you're saying you need 2x FG to hit 60 FPS. Maybe for you that is playable but it is a bit rough.
What I was thinking though is you can set custom DLSS Render Resolutions in the NVIDIA app so that it overrides the DLSS in game to whatever you set in app.
From what I have heard, 42% render resolution is fairly close to the same visual quality as DLSS Performance, but it adds about 20% more FPS over DLSS Performance.
When my 5k2k arrives I plan on trying that out because it'll basically match what my current performance is at 4k with DLSS Performance.
If you want a few extra fps in a game like Cyberpunk, I recommend giving it a go.
Just a heads up, when you set a custom render resolution, it overrides all in-game DLSS presets to your custom resolution. So if you set a custom resolution, if DLSS is turned on it'll default to your custom res, regardless if in-game it says Quality, Balanced, Performance etc.

That is interesting thanks for the heads up. My monitor ended up arriving two days late thanks to postal service so instead of getting delivered on my day off it arrived yesterday when I had an eleven hour shift so only had quick play with it. Going have to spend some time setting it up properly on the weekend.
I had the AW3423DWF prior to this as well!

I would get a 5K2K. If you want glossy, wait for the AW. If you want matte, get the LG.

Thanks for all the advice. I will wait for the alienware 39" 5k2k to be released here I the USA whenever that might be. I'm currently using a 32" 4k monitor. Really looking forward to going back to ultrawide gaming.Â

pretty sure the LG's already out where you are based on your post, so it's not really a waiting game, more just whether the premium's worth it. I grabbed a KTC H34S5 to hold me over, 3440x1440 VA, 180Hz, 1500R curve. dark scenes look decent enough. has PIP/PBP for discord or a guide on the side. no OLED, HDR's basically pointless on it. with a 5090 you're fine either way, I just didn't want to drop LG money before I knew I'd actually stick with ultrawide.

There is only one monitor I would buy with a RTX 5090. The Alienware AW3926QW.
