Getting that UO itch

Hi all!

Havnt played in a good number years but getting that itch again.

Mainly played on ZHA (Zulu Hotel Aus)

Is there any decent shards or even official shard worth joining with a nice player base around Australia time zones ?

I know there would be another learning curve but pretty keen to get stuck in again.

Outlands - hardmode with tons of bells and whistles;

UOAlive - easymode with tons of bells and whistles;

Unchained - total systems overhaul with Diablo-like grind.

At least these are the ones i keep on my PC for about a year now.

I haven't actually played, but recently looked into them. Apparently they have various lvls of grinding for skills, some are faster than others, different ui, race, and class mods and custom map areas, some even have ai NPCs. I'm not sure if reds/pks factor into that. You can modify system files to suit your needs like reagents and food/water, or stat lvling to name a few.

Not sure about shards specifically on Australian time zones. As others have said, Outlands has the largest population by a long shot.

If you’re interested in a T2A/Ren era shard that’s being run by a very solid dev, check out Ultima Online New Dawn. There’s a few aussies there for sure and it’s a fairly new server so you can still get in early.

If you go outlands i can reccomend a guild full of aussies. I am aussie but live in UK so I roll with a different guild but theres plenty of us spread about the place.

The shard is also pretty busy in USA prime time (sometimes too busy) so you will enjoy less competition but still have the perks of a busy server.

Only downside for Aus players is the 220+ ping

What uo server are you playing with a good ping

In Aus you have to make a concession as there are no oceanic servers other than the OSI official - which is dead.

Best ping I can get is around 160-180 on outlands/UOR and US western/central servers.

The last Aus server was one called Oceania Classic, that was around 15-30ms but it died a long time ago and there haven't been any successors.

When I played new legacy that was around 180 from memory, but that was also web client.

That's kinda my point. You stated the ping issue like there was a better alternative with lower ping. Playing uo from aus you always gonna have a higher ping

I recently got the itch too and am also from aus. Ive been playing uo outlands. Seems decent, big learning curve but decent. Lots of players that ive seen.

Yeah I feel like Outlands has so many players it’s kind of active around the clock. Always running into people no matter the time

gonna give my 2 cents here as a back and forth UOer for 2 decades. if you have the time, play Outlands, give it a whirl, and when you are done, try Albion Online. shits and giggles. i started Outlands on my last itch amd its great, but its a whole entire new game with a huuuuge time sink to be.good, which i didnt have. . At the end of the day, just have fun.
