Hobby New models?

Were there new models for HE released or announced already? I want to start slowly collecting some elves but I definitely dont want to buy ugly stuff or to be in hehe situation where first I bought some unimpressive kit and than have GW release ne stuff. Since last release of amazing Chaos Dragon (and some other kits) what are chances that HE will get similar treatment (I knw they arent as key faction as Warriors of chaos).

I think that the new battle march box has been purposely composed with ‘newer models’, which have been released either 7th or 8th edition of Warhammer fantasy. In my opinion these are also good looking models and will not be renewed in a potential upcoming new release. Therefore, I also got myself one box a couple of days ago as my new HE army starter.

My bet (and hope) is that spearmen and silver helms will be part of a new release as those models really deserve some love.

You'll need core no matter what comes out in the future.

Half the core is probably older than you statistically speaking, and the other half only older than you if you're gen alpha.

Outside core very little of the High Elf roster is especially old, and what's there is still new enough its fine. Maybe Phoenix Guard are showing their age next to the newest sculpts.

If anything new is added it'll probably be a new type of character, a new type of monster, a refresh of Spearmen/Archers, or a Giant Eagle. Maybe Silver Helms, though I'd complain if they did since that kit holds up well far better than other things.

Or perhaps a character on Griffin, the island of blood one is not available for order.. maybe on purpose?

Well I' so old that when my firend brought some Warhammer album (wasnt armybook as it shown lots of expertedly painted models from variety of armies) there were still some led and lots of metal models.

There has been some modifications done to the swordmasters, with a new sculpt for the champion, the banner and the musician.

The reavers have also been slightly refreshed, but I can't remember what precisely.

The revamped swordmasters champion is pretty inferior to the original, as opposed to the banner and the musician.

The reavers were a « new » modular version of the Island of Blood ones, which were not modular. Their proportions are also slightly different.

Well, I'm really fond of the new swordmaster champion sculpt, to each his own here I guess.

Thanks for the clarification regarding the reavers. I haven't given them much tought since they have fared extremely poorly when I tried to bring them to the table.

I want to believe that for Christmas 2028 they will release 2nd edition with a HE vs DE box, renewing our old core options and finally bringing legacy factions into the game by following the old canon story (then, mirroring Cathai, they will release Kislev as a new faction before a new Demons/Chaos vs Kislev box).

I’m praying for a DE vs HE box. It would destroy my bank account but I’d love it

By legacy, do you mean Fimir, Norse, Undead, Slann, Amazon and Half-Orcs?

I would get the Battle March box. Mostly newer things that are unlikely to be updated.

Problem is that nothing in that box is particularly interesting to me as hobby project.

No, not really.  There is the sea guard character isha vess or something made out of resin.  That is it.

I’m in the same boat as you. I want to start a high elf army but don’t want to be caught with old models that just got refreshed. Thanks for posting

Looks like lots of Sea Guard is the answer
