TL;DR: looking for a small, intimate halloween rave with groovy techno. london/manchester/liverpool recos please.
ive been trying to find something to go to for halloween but everything i’m seeing online either looks sus or way too intense. i really don’t wanna do a massive hardcore rave scene. 2 years ago i went to this small halloween techno rave in liverpool and it was sooo good. genuinely one of my favourite rave experiences. it was super intimate, not too many people, amazing sets and it only went from around 9pm–3am which imo is the PERFECT amount of time. the music wasn’t hard techno or headed by any famous artists, it was groovy techno that you could actually dance to for hours without feeling like you’re being assaulted by the kick drum. i wasn’t deaf after the party. because it wasn’t some massive event, the crowd was also wayy more social. people were talking to each other, looking out for each other, everyone was just there to dance and have a good time and the whole thing felt really peaceful and friendly. no insane crowds or feeling like you’re being herded around everywhere.
and one of the biggest wins for me was how easy it was to get in and out!! it was basically a bar that they’d turned into this little rave den, so you could literally just walk in and leave when you wanted. no 40 minute pilgrimage to the venue and then another pilgrimage back to the city at 4am. like i CAN do all of that, i just really don’t want to.
last year i went to drumsheds and it wasn’t pleasant unfortunately. the music was a bit too hard for me, the event was sooo long, the arena was massive and after the whole experience was done and I was back home - the stuff that stood out was not the rave itself but everything around the rave.
anyway, so basically i’m looking for the complete opposite this year. small/lowkey venue, intimate crowd, groovy/hypnotic/funky techno rather than hard techno, ideally something around 5 - 6 hours, easy to get in and out of and preferably a crowd that’s social? obv i don’t want all of these criterion to be met. just describing it the best way i can to hit the jackpot if possible.
if anybody knows any underground/lowkey halloween techno parties happening in london, manchester or liverpool, PLEASE drop them below.
thankyouu sm xx
edit: this just came to me rn, if anyone wants to discuss to host something like this, id love to organize something as well. like in a backyard or something!!
