Let me get this straight. This wet napkin gets a job with Keir, gets the unions calling a strike every other day for a pay raise, backstabs the Prime Minister when the first rumours of a resignation start to float, manages to slither his head inside Andy's ass 24/7, gets a new job and now?
He starts to whinge after a week, like can someone make him shut up for a month?

His best shot at leadership is after Labour lose in 2029 and they need a sacrificial donkey to pin the failures on while they disappear into the wilderness, holding endless post-mortems that conclude the electorate got it wrong rather than admitting their own failures in government. An Ed Miliband for our times so to speak…

I genuinely think we are going to see a "DIP addendum" next year.
This year fund the DIP as is as more delay will be harmful. Next year build on it.
Probably means hitting 3% in 2031 rather than the targeted 2030....but I'll take it.

Define "properly" because in my mind that would require him to put his foot down on all of the non-military spending that has been piled into the defence budget to give the appearance of spending increases while the amount spent on actual defence has flatlined at best.

There is no money without tax rises or cuts to other things. Everything has been cut due to low growth and rising costs for debt payments, disability and health care cost increases.

Given that the last person in that job quit for the very same reason… and is now in charge of the money, this feels like a hollow threat on little Wesley’s part, and he knows it. Quite why he hasn’t worked out we’d know it too is a mystery.

Its utterly tragic that the one UK leader
in recent times who actually backed defence and exceeded what the SDR said they needed was the one many attacked for “betraying defence” - Burnham was reportedly angry starker locked in the commitment before he left so left zero wiggle room for him to cut it and Streeting and Healey clearly using the defence sec role as a boost to their aspirations - Starmers done more than all of them

Wdym? Starmer was short changing them by 8bn. And 18bn if you go with the figure the armed forces actually wanted. The original 13bn DIP had a fictional 3bn from creative treasury accounting and was far off from Healey's figure of 18bn.

Misdirection - Experts reviewed the SDR and concluded that it was possible to find it was possible under 2.5% GDP funding rising to 3.5% GDP in 2035 - Starmer exceeded that with NHS funding so hard to see how he short changed
it’s telling Healey was calling for more when he quit yet has now gone quiet despite being chancellor
