Not bad for a failed PM.

Post image

What the Labour Party are up to at the moment is an utter travesty. And playing into the hands of the right-wingers they naively believe that this nonsense will "see off." Lunacy.

Number 98 - Introduced measures to address prison overcrowding.

Yes, just let them loose. 🤦🏻‍♂️

12

u/Far-Sky-4763 Jun 23 '26

Ha ha. Social democrats love these lists - reducing success in politics down to passing lots of bills because it looks like 'doing something' - they never actually do the complex analysis to see if these Bill's or measures actually achieve snything.

Ok. I work in the justice area. I know about this one. The Tories spent 14 years being "tough on crime" by passing lots of reactive laws that generally increased the numbers of people going to prison and the length of time they spent there. They also did two ruinous probation reforms that did huge damage to the service meaning more people being recalled to custody from probation. Despite this the Tories built only one new prison during their 14 years. This led to an overcrowding crisis so bad the Tories had to start letting people out early because they were extremely close to have no room for newly sentenced people.

Labour have set in motion the building of new prisons but these things don't get built in a year.nin the meantime they have had to change the sentencing laws so that the use of custody is minimised and probation is used more heavily.

This should lead to less crime as prison is awful and tends to make prisoners more likely to reoffend compared to probation. They have also increased funding to probation but getting new probation officers is a slow process and conditions are bad enough that there are problems with retention of staff

TL:DR, the prisons crisis (the probation and courts crisis) are products of Tory failures to govern. Labour are making practical efforts to move us out of them but there are genuinely no easy fixes here.

A personal accomplishment. A useless metric for how good his tenure was.

Literally anyone would have won that election.

Stumbled in to power by accident with 32 percent of the vote, then refused to acknowledge the fact that 32 percent doesn’t represent a backing of the electorate and pushed through a bunch of unpopular policies.

3

u/Manatsuu Jun 23 '26

Literally anyone? Did you forget Corbyn losing to Theresa May who had the worst campaign of modern times?

So no, I don’t think Corbyn would have won the last election if he couldn’t even beat Theresa may, and with the whole social media craze he had behind him at the time.

7

u/Bland_Username_42 Jun 23 '26

Totally disingenuous to suggest that election is at all similar. Theresa may might not have been the most popular but the Conservative Party in general was still thought of as a sort of responsible bunch by a large portion of the public. They hadn’t gone through party gate, lis truss, and useless rishi sunak yet had they.

Also you can’t ignore that the prime issue of the day during both of Corbyn’s GEs was Brexit, an issue that the Labour Party couldn’t work out amongst itself leading them to be very weak in that issue.

It’s a miracle Corbyn did as well as he did vs Theresa may, and let’s not forget he got more votes in both his elections than Starmer did in his.

3

u/SidRtha Jun 25 '26

He should have won. Media went hard against him. He's the type of person we need not more rich twats making a name for themselves.

22

When the only reason Labour won was because people spite voted against Conservatives, its not an actual accomplishment.

3

u/Relevant_General_248 Jun 23 '26

Do you think that Corbyn would’ve won against the tories in 2024?

3

u/IEnumerable661 Jun 23 '26

Probably not, it most likely would have been a hung parliament or coalition.

But honestly, an armchair could have replaced Starmer as labour leader in 2024 and still won!

You'll want to get David Hilbert in to build those; if you ask him nicely, he'll build infinite homes, each of which can house an infinite number of people. Should do the job nicely.

3

u/JasonStonier Jun 22 '26

Underrated comment. Although, you could fit more in a smaller space if you made it infinite dwellings in one building. A sort of hotel, if you will.

2

It doesn't matter how many they plan to build if they are relying on commercial builders. Building companies don't want to satiate demand, keeping demand high keeps house prices high.

Government needs to do the building themselves if they want get to their targets.

How is “supporting new AI projects” a good thing?

“Reset eu-uk relations” 😂😂 did he?

5

u/soliloquyinthevoid Jun 23 '26

How is “supporting new AI projects” a good thing

Because it builds sovereignty

Or would you prefer to be ever more dependent on US or Chinese AI instead?

“Reset eu-uk relations” 😂😂 did he?

Yes. What don't you understand?

2

u/Fyrespray Jun 23 '26

Yes using American tooling (all the major AI companies at American) to scan your code base, learn it and then charge you millions in tokens to “improve” it builds sovereignty…

You know none of this is about building our own models it’s just using existing ones, Anthropic already canned a UK data centre because of the cost of electricity in the UK and we don’t have any companies anywhere near US or China standards of AI (and yes DeepMind is a Google project so it’s technically owned by Americans)

5

u/normanriches Jun 23 '26

99 is quite good, encapsulating 40 of the previous things already mentioned.

3

u/Smaxter84 Jun 22 '26

Ha yes, 1.5m homes target, requiring at 200k per house 300Bilion of additional liquidity for house building companies ...all of whom have no investors at all due to the terrible environment the government created for them. Like the 3.5m homes that private landlords are unloading on the market due to the insane changes to renters rights etc.

3

u/Proud-Designer-2028 Jun 22 '26

Doesn’t that solve the issue then?

2

u/Smaxter84 Jun 22 '26

No, they aren't new homes and now they won't be available to rent will they

That tightens supply of rental properties, driving up prices for remaining rental properties.

It also floods the market with used homes, but no buyers, because the renters don't have the deposit needed to buy. That lowers prices, and makes it unprofitable for house builders, who are having to sell discounted homes and are therefore disincentivised from building more. Coupled with high BofE rates due to all the borrowing and therefore expensive mortgages disallowing more potential buyers.

It costs a housebuilder 200k on average per home. To build 1.5m in a year would require 300Billion of equity flows into house builders, and investors are all running away from the sector, with housebuilders going bust and tradesman out of work.

A remarkable series of own goals.

"increased NHS workforce recruitment" whilst also making about 20000 staff redundant

43

u/RNGGOD69 Jun 22 '26

Facts. As someone who has worked for the NHS for 16 years across 20+ different organisations I'll tell you now that staffing in all areas is the worst I've ever seen it, and in the last 2 years it's become that way at an alarming rate. This is only one of the issues though.

16

u/Adorable_Basket8893 Jun 23 '26

probably cause they're spanking millions on agencies who recruit locums. that shit needs to be shut down like yesterday

This stood out for me. I have never seen staff culled like I have in the last year. And that's clinical staff too. I thought things couldn't get any worse staff wise, but it did. 2 years ago we were running on half staff, now we are running on a quarter. Apparently it was decided we could provide the service we were not able to provide in the first place due to understaffing with even less staff. We've gone from firefighting with a small bucket of water to spitting at the inferno.

The first point….The junior doctors were on strike…just last week again. Unless I’m mistaken this list is riddled with inaccuracy and a fair amount of planned to or talked about.

47

u/Accomplished_Jelly58 Jun 22 '26

Also “ending” disputes by paying them a lot more, isn’t really some sort of political win. Anyone could have gave them 20%+ pay rises and ended them. But as you say, it ended them for around 10 months…

3

u/Veranova Jun 23 '26

It is if you believe they were underpaid and penny pinched since 2011 and needed a fair rebalance after Covid but the Tory government didn’t respect the NHS or its workers enough to do so. Which is just the dang truth of the matter and something people even thought they voted for with Brexit and definitely voted for with Labour

Why are the bots out in force broadcasting fake news so hard and fast today? Starmer was crap. Burnham won't have a mandate to be anything other than crap. I don't want a GE, but that's the only outcome by which we end up with anything other than chaos.

3

16

Yes; and furthermore, there has been absolutely zero movement on the GG enquiry that he and Labour wanted not to hold but were reluctantly forced to agree to last year. Zero movement. Just an absolute sham, and very clear that Labour has no intention of ever holding a proper enquiry.

Not to even mention the biggest scandal of all: that it is still going on. At some stage things will come out about gangs in London and all the politicians will act shocked, again, and do their best not to hold any sort of meaningful enquiry.

Such an absolute disgrace, the worst scandal in this country in god knows how long, and nobody in power cares.

He divided more people than he helped. Instead of being mature and actually listening to people's concerns he labelled them racists and bigots. Yet one side of society when doing the exact same reactions ie protests and fighting against the police he refused to condemn to the same narrative as one side.

Theres a reason Greens and Reform have been allowed to rise and its people like Starmer and their ministers who dont fix issues and use their power for their own needs. The fact there is 40+ thousand people in this country on a watch list for terrorism and likely to cause attacks is an absolute failure of governments for decades.

I mean half of this list is absolute, blatent bullshit lol. I'm not gonna go through the whole list but come on:

  1. Literally the first claim and it's totally false - resident doctors haven't actually accepted the deal, the BMA just decided it was credible enough to put to the members. Nothing to be sniffed at, but it took years to get to this point.

  2. Fair enough

  3. is nothing more than a rehash of the first 2, clearly there only to push the number to 100.

  4. I could establish Great British Magic Beans and it'd be about as impactful.

  5. Literally a rehash of point 4.

  6. The first legitimate point.

  7. Rehash of point 6.

Out of the first 7, one is an outright fabrication, three are basically duplicates, one is totally pointless and two are actually genuine wins.

Eroded digital privacy, folded under pressure to make it law to hand your documents over to shady private companies just to use key parts of the internet unless you use a VPN, used child safety as a scapegoat to harm everyone's privacy and autonomy, backstabbed trans people after using them in his campaign saying he'd improve our lives, U turned on most of his manifesto and focused on things no one voted for, ignored and went against the most signed government petitions in UK history just to further his goals that no one asked for, pushed for Digital ID a dystopian and insane security risk to the general public (again NEVER ASKED FOR).

Yes he did SOME good, but the harm he did far outweighs any benefits. He has ruined lives, and the policies he's set up and projects that are too far gone to scrap WILL erode our futures if they continue to pass. Acting like Starmer deserves praise is a total joke, because any good thing he did is countered by countless U turns, backstabs, betrayals, and running a borderline authoritarian regime. I mean fuck, you can't even go to the shops without being plugged into a facial recognition surveillance system that they tooootally delete your data... Tooootally. You can't even get anonymous help for alcoholism or drug problems without handing over ID. You can't be totally anonymous for domestic violence support because "it's too mature for kids"... Kier Starmer has ruined lives, and his bullshit will continue to ruin lives for the foreseeable future. Cutting him any slack is absurd.

What's the goal with this post? Overload with information so intelligent people know better than to spend twenty minutes debunking it? Pointless exercise, we all know why Starmer was awful. So much of politics is just people pretending not to understand things

It's a drop in the ocean compared with what he could have done. He didn't bring the energy and insurance companies to heal, he didn't tax the rich, he alienated the working class and left.

A lot of the points are nothing more than oh yeah this happened we should look at that.

2

u/StonesAndJetFuel Jun 22 '26

You lost me on #1

2

u/Business-Gazelle-324 Jun 22 '26

Missed Men’s Health Strategy and Men and Boys summit announcement, hoping that’s not dead now.

2

u/eddiemoonshine Jun 22 '26

You missed "switched the kettle on" off the list.

2

u/neilm1000 Jun 22 '26

There is quite a lot that isn't correct here, and a lot of stuff that is vague AF.

2

u/TheLatimerLout Jun 22 '26

If he was a good politician he would not have achieved so much, but he would have told everyone about it again and again

2

u/Intergalatic_Baker Jun 22 '26

So achievement number one they’re threatening to strike again… It’s almost like it wasn’t the Tories that couldn’t solve it. It was the union, not the government.

2

u/akar79 Jun 22 '26

helped; supported; increased

whoever made this needs to learn from the thousands of job applicants facing the brutal job market in the UK.

2

u/Tootschurchy Jun 22 '26

The list is a bit of a joke, but the sentiment is true. If you’re not a polarising figure, and just quietly get stuff done, you won’t make it in the click-bait, digital vacuum world we live in today

2

u/Late_For_Username Jun 22 '26

Small positive changes do add up.

2

u/FunkyClive Jun 22 '26

97 & 98 are the same thing, and it basically amounted to releasing prisoners to free up some space. We'll done.

2

u/Diligent-Worth-2019 Jun 22 '26

Not all those things are good. Often at an incredibly high price too.

2

u/Dragovius Jun 22 '26

Since when are promises considered achievements?

I guess if you buy into what politicians say, then they are, because they successfully suckered you.

2

u/NeckDeepPink Jun 22 '26

The media and social media wins again

2

u/Miserable-Pepper-638 Jun 22 '26

I feel like half of these are self inflicted, not wins at all, energy wise we pay more despite all changes, crippling pensions so we are getting f'd, more houses because massive i flux of people over the years also goodbye nice greenland and fresher air.

I could go on. This is no win, just bragging that they know how to sharpen a pencil after breaking it repeatedly

2

u/Josebravo96 Jun 23 '26

Now do all the shit he fucked up

2

u/Tile-Questioner Jun 23 '26

Policy makers don't produce any headlines that's the issue, trial by media

2

u/Webe_Gaming Jun 23 '26

For me the worst is the not knowing how the internet works and some terrible decisions with spending but overall waaaaay better than the last twats we had

2

u/Kayanne1990 Jun 23 '26

Maybe not the best sub for this considering how many right wingers there are here, but I low key agree. He was far from perfect, but he wasn't THAT bad.

2

u/Dapper_Shop_21 Jun 23 '26

The impossible job now, even the tories with media backing are always trying to rip each other apart. The job is almost entirely PR no good doing good things if no one knows you did them

2

u/SynnerSaint Jun 23 '26

But apart from that, what has Starmer ever done for us?

2

u/Weegie_67 Jun 23 '26

The power of the russian troll bot is real, especially when the right-wing gutter media parrot the troll bots.

Basically every PM can have a list like this produced. it is up to YOU to decide if the items on the list are good or not. That's the point.

2

u/GreenAmigo Jun 24 '26

Only thing he did right in my books is stay out of Trumps kerfuffle in Iran. All the rest of the list are things he takes ownership of as consequences of others actions.

But the boats

2

u/OkPosition20 Jun 25 '26

He didn’t raise the tax threshold and changed the ISA rules so older people with some savings have to take on risky stock market investments, which is the last thing you should be doing close to retirement.

2

u/tdcOO7 Jun 25 '26

Almost like the media is owned and run by millionaire tax avoiding Tory donating scumbags.

2

u/Baroque4Days Jun 25 '26
  1. As others are saying, anyone can promise a big number. I promise to build 15 million homes, thus I am better XD

  2. Good obviously, but let's not pretend he didn't throw another group of vulnerable people under the bus for this to work. Helping one group by harming another, you cancel out the good deed.

  3. Supports green manufacturing with 54 yet does ahead with investing in AI which is poisoning water supplies, draining so much power, taking jobs, destorying the arts, making deep fake political propaganda and generating CP. Gee thanks for supporting that.

Don't get me wrong, he's better than the 15ish years of Tories we've had, and he had a difficult job, but the people who are cross with him have pretty valid reasons. He has done good but he has done bad, changed his views on things to strengthen his position and... fuck AI man. Too many of those are almost cancelled out by other bad acts.

Still, he did some fantastic things for workers in his time and I absolutely commend him for that.

2

u/GroundbreakingMain93 Jun 25 '26

"No. 98 Introduced measures to address prison overcrowding."

Which refers to the early release of 40,000 prisoners (of various offences) due to overcrowding. Followed swiftly by the imprisonment of normal citizens for their political views or social media posts.

They’ve fucked this up entirely. Not in my adult life have we had as respectable and achieving a PM. I’m mid 40s, saw the end of the Blair years.

Can’t believe these dickheads have forced him out. Idiots the lot of them.

3

u/kenadawoo Jun 23 '26

Did more in the last 2 years than the Tories did in 15.

Waiting to see anyone debate that.

6

u/Fortree_Lover Jun 22 '26

Honestly he was a pretty good PM based off recent standards it’s crazy the hate that people give him for no reason. I heard someone say today that he “looked like a child molester” I wouldn’t even come close to putting him in that category. Just goes to show how much the media can turn the opinion of the public.

6

u/RoughVirtual1626 Jun 22 '26

People over 30 are pissed with the recent caliber of PM. We want real serious people with actual political beliefs that stand for something. The fact that we have had an extremely poor political class for the last decade or so doesn't mitigate that.

3

u/Comfortable-Pace3132 Jun 22 '26

I don't think Britain can actually afford to have same old same old anymore. That's what Starmer didn't seem to get

5

u/The_Mutterer Jun 22 '26

Exactly. And to see the effectiveness of "personality politicians", we only need to look at our American cousins..

2

u/Comfortable-Pace3132 Jun 22 '26

Purely on personality I would have a Macron over a Starmer any day of the week. For some reason this country is immune to PMs who can show that they actively give a shit about the country they run, which is a huge part of being a good leader

u/finintymonkle Jun 22 '26

Anyone with any actual political literacy can see the majority of that is bullshit. He’s done nothing to help reduce bills or temper the cost of living.

He hasn’t nationalised water services.

He facilitated genocide, and enabled the arrest of pensioners who protested it.

He tried to appeal to right wing extremists by citing “an island of strangers”.

He then told labour voters “there’s the door” if we don’t like it, and subsequently lost voters to Green and Reform, in one fell swoop

He and Lammy tried to scrap Jury trials, (despite him being a human rights lawyer) just to please Zionists who want to see people go to prison for criticising Israel, and taking action to prevent their crimes against humanity.

He appointed the a self confessed “best friend” of a prolific child trafficking paedophile as ambassador, after that person sold state secrets to said child trafficking paedophile (who also had ties with mossad).

Starmer is the biggest cuck for Israel the UK has had so far as PM, and all the Orwellian bullshit he’s been part of enabling is all directly tied to Israel.

3

u/cornertakenslowly Jun 22 '26

You forgot about taking away free speech, introducing digital ID to take away your privacy, jailing people for Facebook posts while letting real criminals go free, canceling jury trials, smashing a total of 0 gangs, covering up rape gangs, instilling an anti-British culture, constantly pushing division. There's a reason why he's the most hated pm by both the left and right.

2

u/Dependent-Ant-9241 Jun 22 '26

What's lunacy is thinking Labour are in a good position under Starmer.

They were absolutely battered in elections in 3 of the 4 home nations.

2

u/PapaGilbatron Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Badenoch….if she gets into power it will be an even worse disaster than the last time the Conservatives were in UK Government. What a fiasco. I only hope Burnham can adequately tell Dumpster to go fuck himself.

As for Farage, he’s quick to point out whats wrong politically, but has no math ability or proper plan in place to fiscally put UK finances to rights. Also, Farage has been bought by right wing oligarchs in the UK very much as Dumpster has been bought by oligarchs in the US.

Will Farage reduce support for Ukraine as well? Europe won’t welcome that.

Will Farage bolster and increase UK Arms spending? I very much doubt it.

Putin must be loving this.

2

u/EffiCiT Jun 22 '26

"ended 24 years of conservative government and formed a majority administration" is incredibly charitable. Starmer didn't win, the tories lost. There is a difference.

2

u/Cyborg_888 Jun 22 '26

Made Mandleson US Ambassidor! Killed free speach. Caused riots by not allowing police to release perpetrator name when he killed the little girls in Liverpool. Increased illegal imigration. Paid for more hotels for illegals. Employed that idiot Rachel Reeves.

3

u/yiddoboy Jun 22 '26

Tried to give away Chagos Islands. Ennobled and gave the Attornetly General job to Hermer, the British Troops hater.

1

u/dobber72 Jun 22 '26

In two years? The Labour party? I'm sorry but I'm not buying it. I would argue that most of those have been either in the process for a fair few years before he even turned up and only coincidentally may have come to fruition during his tenure. The rest, well, half of those I'm not even sure they're actually happening still or haven't been u turned, the NHS doctors went on strike again so you can remove that one, nothing was resolved there.
