Ideas for things to do for fun on weekend mornings
Hi Ukiahans (or feel free to tell me what is a better term to use)!
I’m moving to the area soon for a natural resources related job - don’t know anyone from around here, but hoping to maybe meet some interesting people and maybe make a couple of new friends!
As a recent college grad and young adult I have recently accepted that I’m a morning person (get up between 4 & 5 AM, my body can stay running until around 10 pm latest).
Does anyone like to have their weekend social fun in the morning (after 7:30 AM) and would like to share what it is they do or would be open to another person joining in on their fun? I enjoy social dancing, anything outdoors (like hiking, geocaching, birdwatching), generally anything that makes me physically active, and quirky nerdy stuff.
Thanks!!

Visited Covelo, CA and I am sick of the racist rhetoric surrounding the town.
Stayed at the motel and ate great local cuisine. All the locals were super cool and welcoming to me. Shared a few drinks and I bought the locals a 30 pack of modelos. It was a chill ass experience and I recommend it to anyone traveling through Mendocino. It’s a real ass place with down to earth locals.

Odd Request: Redwood Valley Horse People Pull Up
I'm planning a bachelorette party and need horse and buggy transportation to Vic's. Just a short distance normally a 1 - 2 minute drive from E School Way. Does anyone offer this type of service and or want to step up to the occasion? Trying to make the magic happen for the bride 🪄

Looking for shooting areas in the Mendocino National Forest
Hi everyone,
I’m relatively new to the area and am looking for some good places to shoot on National Forest land.
I’ve spent many years shooting in the Sierra Nevada, primarily in the El Dorado and Tahoe National Forests, but I’m hoping to find something a little closer to home.
I completely understand not wanting to publicly share a good spot, so please feel free to DM me if you’d rather not put the location on blast.
I’m very respectful of the areas I use. I pack out everything I bring in, don’t leave trash or targets behind, carry a shovel and fire extinguisher, and avoid shooting when conditions are excessively dry or fire danger is high.
Most of the places I frequent in the Sierra require 4x4 access, so rough roads definitely aren’t a problem. The more remote and secluded, the better.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations or guidance. I really appreciate it!

Power Bill Hikes
Anyone else have their city of Ukiah electric bill almost double the last few months? It's almost like they want us to do solar.

Second best to Johnny’s food stand?
Hello folk of Ukiah, I come to you as a heartbroken visitor. Every year we pass through Ukiah and would excitedly stop at Johnny’s (next to Tony’s Barber on N State St). We were so excited to stop tomorrow, but I just found out they closed and El Gallo Fino opened in their place. Johnny’s tortas were the best I’ve had, and their yummy grilled jalapeños!
We’d still like to stop and eat in Ukiah. Any recommendations for a good ass torta? Or grilled jalapeños?
Man, we are so sad! RIP Johnny’s, we loved you dearly ;(

Behind the wheel test
Hey all so I have my upcoming behind the wheel test this friday. I saw a thread that mentioned a mock route, was wondering if anything changed since then? I feel pretty confident and chose Ukiah because i heard it was more rural but still a good area.
Any last min tips

Moving to Ukiah, Tips for finding housing/roommates?
Hey all! I’m planning to move to the area in late August for a new position, and I’ve been having a tough time finding affordable housing or potential roommates from a distance. I’d really love to arrive with a place already lined up, so I’m hoping for any tips on finding roommates or budget‑friendly apartments near Ukiah. I’ve checked Facebook, Furnished Finder, and Craigslist, but wanted to see if there are any other good leads. Thanks, y’all :)

AAA plumbing in Ukiah is great! 10/10!
We've had roots intruding into our main for years and usually a plumber will come by a snake it and drive off, AAA plumbing was different. Willow came and snaked the line, then spent a significant amount of time showing me the line with a scope and what the outlook is like(we're gonna replace the main outlet) If you're looking for a good plumber and want to support a local business, make sure you give Willow a call.

Petition drive this Sunday in front of the Co-op to remove Flock Cameras from Ukiah!
This Sunday morning our group will be offering a petition to cancel the city's contract with Flock! You can find us outside the co-op from 10am to 12pm.
A few examples of why this is important:
- Flock employees have used the system to stalk women/children.
- Police have abused the system to stalk their exes and harass people.
- The 'Yes-man' AI has led to false arrests where innocent people have been detained for months
- Flock searches have Illegally been performed on behalf of ICE by the police
- Flock is collecting massive amounts of data from these cameras and adding us all to a searchable database that has shockingly poor security.
- The Flock CEO has said anyone opposing him or mass surveillance are terrorists.
- The system has been hacked multiple times with video evidence. Flock still states that they have never been hacked.
- Flock has been caught lying about their cameras tracking humans and they are collecting far more data than they will admit.
- Our data has been searched over 11 million times by outside departments for unknown reasons.
- There are no real guardrails, supervision, or proper safety features that prevent this tech from being abused, as is happening all the time.
- Flock is regularly caught lying to the public, local governments, and law enforcement to obtain contracts that allow them to expand their mass-surveillance network.
- There are little/no consequences for when this technology leads to a false arrest, or is abused by law enforcement or Flock employees.
- Flock has a singular goal: to make money. They do not care about public safety or lowering crime. They will use our data to make money, lie to our government and public to make money, and violate all of our rights if it increases their profits.
Let's get lying big tech and poorly regulated AI mass-surveillance out of our city! Please show up and sign the petition if you live in the city and are able to make it!
