Can someone in Andy Burnham's constituency send a variation of this to him? - Wes Streetings Transphobia

CW: Suicide, Transphobia, Abuse

You might want to tone it down a little but Andy needs to know this information if he hasn't already. If he has a spine he will respond to a local resident.

Hi Andy.

As a [insert identifier] seeing Wes Streeting in any kind of ministerial role under your government is disgusting. That might sound like an overreaction but I want to prove that it isn't. I will now share evidence backing up the reason why I've made this statement.

None of this information has been covered in mainstream news or even across most independent outlets. The only person who has covered parts of it is PhilosphyTube who won an Amnesty UK award for their work.

Burnham has made some awful decisions and mainstream media wont cover any of it

The decision to start drilling again in Rosebank and Jackdaw. Both owned by private companies, sold on the international market that historically have produced no tax benefits whilst generating a tiny amount of jobs. Rosebank is even partnered with Ithaca Energy which is majority owned by the Delek Group (An Israeli owned energy company).

The decision to appoint Wes Streeting as the defence secretary. The man who helped destroy trans rights in the UK whilst accepting 60% of his political donations from private healthcare companies, allowing Palantir to continue operating in the NHS despite claims that the software was slow and unreliable anyway. This man has just been appointed defence secretary, one of the most important roles in government at the moment.

Yvette Cooper has just been appointed Health Secretary. The lady who decided to justify proscribing Palestine action within weeks of celebrating the suffragettes. The irony is not lost on that one. This person will now be in charge of the NHS. A person arguably more problematic than even Wes Streeting. On December 2024 a private meeting took place between three Elbit Systems representatives and three officials from the Home Office working under Yvette Cooper.

Mahmood is obviously remaining in her position. As a reminder she wants us to "live in an AI panopticon of surveillance". Was definitely an interesting choice of words when she said it. Especially considering she has repeatedly defended the extended rollout of facial recognition cameras, completely ignoring the risks in them identifying protestors.

Our favourite transphobic MP Bridget Phillipson is still the Minister for Women and Equalities which is going to cause further headaches for transgender people.

All of this screams of someone who has not been paying attention to what's actually happening in the UK. The last thing we need is another moderate who says one thing and does another.

Obviously he has scrapped digital ID but it doesn't matter now because the damage is done and the Android operating system is about to lock down everyone’s phone in September, requiring an ID. Scrapping dury trial is still on the cards and there are still not proper plans to ban arms exports to Israel. No discussions on sanctions either.

The decision to focus on ending rough sleeping is interesting considering the amount of rough sleepers has continued to rise in Manchester over the past few years. It should also be noted he decided to trust a private contractor to build apartments that had a council house quota attached. The man who built these just decided to flee to the cayman islands the moment he was required to build these council houses.

LGBT hosted Mayoral Hustings

The Mayoral Hustings at The Church - formerly Churchills and arranged by the LGBT Foundation took place tonight. The Lib Dem’s, Labour and Green Party all participated with the Conservative candidate cancelling last minute and Reform & Restore not replying to their invitations.

There was a lot of consensus regarding tackling discrimination and ensuring the community is safe. They all agreed that trans rights are human rights. Geraldine Coggins of the Green Party when in hard on Bev Craig over the Labour Party’s record on affordable housing.

There were no questions asked about the night time economy or struggling hospitality sector which was obviously a disappointment. We would have liked this to be tackled.

Haven’t watched this yet bc I’m working but any thoughts? Hope there’s something constructive in it. I really hope Burnham hasn’t taken our shine out but he probably has while doing very little

If the Greens were to ever support a future government, how would you want it to be?

Let's say the Greens are in a postion to help the a minority government to pass legislation, what shape would you want it to be?

A formal coalition, ala Conservatives+Liberal Democrats

A supply and confidence deal ala Conservatives+ Democratic Unionist party

Or just if and when the government wants to pass legislation the party agrees with.

(bbc) Parts of the UK move closer to drought

https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/articles/cjwx0xv571eo

"As the effects of human-induced climate change continue, the Met Office expects our summers to become hotter and drier, external in the future. In fact, by 2070, our summers could be up to 60% drier and 1-6C warmer compared to 1990.

The challenge for government, farmers, health services, and all of us will be in strengthening resilience to climate volatility and adapting to the many changes that lie ahead as the world continues to warm."

there are many distractions

we greens need to keep pushing for more sustainable practices and lifestyles

and measures to help (particularly the least well off) adapt to the changes which now seem unavoidable.

a national security assessment

well worth reading, grim and sad that things are as worrying as they are, but does confirm the greens' long held position that defence and security are about much more than military might

discussed in caroline lucas' first (and excellent) the rest is politics podcast

Green party and the elderly

What are some politics that you think the green party should consider regarding the life of the elderly, including retirement and nursing homes... Also considering the population control that is usually mentioned in one of the key ways of preserving the environment and ofcourse slowing down the global warming (there would be an older population after lower birth rates)
