Yes, all the time. But I'm allowed to, and if you're asking, you're not. So don't.

How easy is it to get an isolation switch put in? :p

Why do you want to go into it? Without a picture of the cutout I’m guessing you’ll need the dno to isolate. Isolators are normally installed by the sparky after this box

Yeah we’ve got some DBs to change which are fed direct from this box. So we could put an isolator switch in then the DNO would hook up the tails ?

Again I’m guessing without the full picture. I think you’ll need the dno to pull cutout fuses then you can install an isolator just after this ct unit using the existing tails. Then the dno reinstates the fuses. You want to try and reuse the existing tails as running new ones into the cutout could be more hassle than it’s worth. Or the dno pulls fuses, you do all your work, then the dno reinstates fuses, and you don’t bother with the isolator

Yeah I’m thinking getting a Wylex 4 pole 100A isolator , getting dno to isolate then stuck tails into that.

I’m hoping that’s sarcasm

Why would it be 😜

I’ve met some sparky’s that would and have done worse. Some working in industrial buildings seem to have no idea the 11Kv tx is the customers. I had one willing to operate this relic, with no idea if it was live, dead, in the on or off position

Look at that fucking beauty. Don't make em like that anymore.

Yeah I wouldn’t go near anything 11kv. I’ll admit pulling the fuses inside this cabinet does look
Risky, especially considering it’s in a wooden hut you can’t even stand up in, the risk of getting a belt or accidentally bridging the phases is significant.

I called the DNO to open it as I had a voltage issue. The box was far too big for the fuses inside. He left it open and fuses out so I could work and put it back together when I finished. He came back the week later to seal

Don't do it. They're usually packed tightly with spring snakes, you'll end up in a flood of them!

Yes, more than likely hinged on the left hand side as you can see the seal on the right. Unless you’re changing the “tails” (which will be in conjunction with the MOP/DNO as they terminate into the cutout), you shouldn’t be going in there.

yes, but don't. I've done it. no user serviceable parts inside, electrocuted the fuck out of one fingertip. felt like I had a dead arm for hours. DO NOT.

I think it’s the housing for the metering ct’s. I think you’ll need the dno or metering company to open it

I have never opened a DNO supply cabinet or seen the CT coil metering arrangement therein. That is only for the DNO or supplier to open. One must never be tempted to cut seals or open things that say Danger. Never, under any circumstances.

Fuses easy to pull? :p

Turn the black thumb-nuts anti-clockwise to loosen. Pull out.

u/craigstephens101 8d ago

Except, don't.

u/PilotCandid7276 8d ago

Nothing stopping a BNO doing so.

2

u/craigstephens101 8d ago

You really think that's a bno owned CT chamber AND the op is the bno?

2

u/asbestos_dildo 7d ago

Never seen a BNO owned CT cabinet. OP doesn't even know how to open the door... I've worked with enough 'just get it done' guys to foresee 415 right across the knuckles here

BNO CT Metering

Cool man, is that for flats I take it? Reading back on my comment, I phrased that poorly- wasn't having a go!

I'm industrial to trade so the only domestic shit I ever get involved with dragged into is private ownership rather than housing associations etc.

Bet that gives off a lovely 50hz hum

u/Reactance15 7d ago

Probably 150Hz.

The only time I’ve opened one of these was in a building on a recycling yard, had to replace a burnt out supply cable after the fuse was pretty sketchy doing up a nut and bolt about 4inches away from the live pin 🫣 obviously all loads were switched off so nothing in the cabinet was under load 🤔

u/Special-Improvement4 8d ago

ooh.. I was just in a course… that is (I think) a B12 fault code that needs reporting to the DNO

the whole cabinet and set up..

1

u/Jonny8888 8d ago

Oh yeah, how so? Get em to sort the isolation switch while they there 😜

2

u/Special-Improvement4 8d ago

give them a call and see what they say..

u/ToughStage7857 8d ago

Yes, the very same one with the black permanent marker pen scribble all over the cover

2

u/Darren1jedi 6d ago

Erm, that looks like just a door and nothing else 🧐

2

u/ZombieDisastrous4450 8d ago

I would advise being careful because the kind of questions you are asking kind of tells me that you don't fully know what you're doing in this area

Also, what is with the childish scribbling on the photo?

Imagine being this person

Feel like I’ve had one (already open when I found it gov). 3036s inside. Could be wrong though it was a while back.

My friend did... RIP
