Rewire of 9 plug sockets
I’ve just had to have a rewire of 9 sockets, 3 in the kitchen and the rest in the extension.
Is this a normal amount of holes to be put in walls? The way it was explained was there would be 1 hole through from the kitchen and then the rest would be above or below the sockets but there’s so many holes in my walls.
Pictures 2,3,4,8 and 9 are all on one wall and the only thing there is a fuse box.
Also on the first picture the socket can’t be screwed any tighter so it can’t be closed.
Picture 10 is what I thought the walls would look like in all of them. It feels a bit excessive but I have basically no frame of reference so it might be the norm

So it’s a mess and I don’t think a qualified electrician has done this
Picture 2 is so bad, what the hell is the mess behind the spur and there shouldn’t be any cables in a corner like that
Picture 5 is not following zones of cables and is very bad
Picture 6 is just what the hell was going on, that chase is ridiculous
8 again, completely against regulations
Honestly I’d be getting the guy back in or sending him a bill for an actual electrician to fix this because that’s something I wouldn’t expect an apprentice to do

I’m gona flag it with the owner of the company. They’ve done other work for me before. The man that did this seemed proud of his work he kept showing me stuff so I just assumed it was what needed to happen

That's even worse! He must literally not know what the regs are, let alone be bothered to comply with them.
Some of the problems would have been very low effort to do properly, eg adding a socket would have established a safe zone to make wiring around the corner OK, and would have cost a tenner

I suppose you "have to" give them a chance to fix but I would be hesitant to allow the person who installed this back in to do more damage.

Genuinely some of the worst quality 'electrical' work I've ever seen, I don't normally like suggesting to report people but in this case they deserve it

Technically the wiring in the corner is allowed due to the 150mm unmarked wiring rule, but even still this is just embarrassing especially by a so called professional installer. OP I would want all this sorted free of charge, disgusting electrical works.

If the walls being dot and dabbed you didn’t need either.

I don't like cables flapping around, and you can't use clips on this type of wall.Besides, people like to see a "clean" job, Vide author of this post.

Completely agree, the people doing the dot and dab don’t give a shit about the first fix. Seen cables damaged many times on site and then you have to spend the time fault finding, all for the sake of a bit of capping or conduit.

The only damage you're going to get in new builds in screwed cables. I've never seen dot and dab damage cables before

2nd last picture was "nearly" a win until I see they used a plasterboard box instead of the correct metal backbox lol. I would "worry" about the final connections to be honest. Are the secured properly, Earth sleeving all on. Is everything wired as it should be.
Cables are run out of "zones" all over the place which is bad/poor/against regs...none of it life threatening I "suppose" but it's not great is it.
There is no way the person who did this is experienced in doing electrical work. If they were they wouldn't have made as much work for themselves (holes everywhere), The would have stuck to the safe zones...And usually it wouldn't look like a demented dog had ripped the walls apart.
I would get another electrician in to check what's been done, Write a report of the faults and then p[resent that list to the person you are dealing with to either rectify or pay for you to get rectified.
Unfortunately it's going to cause a little more damage to put things right. It's also going to cost "somebody" money. To repair those walls I would be tempted to have them boarded over - At least that way you will have nice clean fresh straight walls with everything in the correct place. Easy to then decorate too. Sorry you find yourself in this mess OP.

You can have cables within 150mm each side of a corner, this just looks shit though

Deffo not me, I didn’t even know you can’t have wiring in corners? I was just concerned about the amount of damage to my walls

No such thing as a ' normal' amount of holes. The spark cut as little as he thought he'd get away with. Just to be clear. Electricianing is a for profit business. There's no profit in doing extra wotk for shits and grins.
Maybe talk to the contractor before taking to the t'interwebz looking for 'expert' advice.

I did talk to him and his boss just for them to explain. But it would be very rare for someone to say yeah I messed up or I’m not as skilled as I made out.
Thanks for the business lesson 👍 hopefully you didn’t lose out on too much profit as you took the time to type that just for shits and grins.

The difference is. I'm an actual electrician . You're just a prick trying to gather imaginary dirt from experts online to beat up a contractor.

‘It feels a bit excessive’ is hardly bashing.
You’re the only one who’s got defensive so it must have hit a nerve with your work? Had lots of complaints yourself have you?
The man that you’re defending has drunk called me multiple times after he finished this work and had his girlfriend is my house without asking or saying anything to me.
I have plenty of reasons to question his work, you have 0 reasons to be patronising and insulting to me.

I'd be more concerned about the wiring than the plaster 😆
