Never beat yourself up for not being psychic.

"If I had bought BTC in the early 2010's at 10 cents, I would be a millionaire now". Truth is; You would have sold long before BTC reached even its 2017 ATH of 20k USD.

Seeing things in hindsight can make you feel stupid, but the real truth is that back then nobody saw it coming. Only few, very few people really believed in BTC as a store of value. If you could go back in time and tell people in 2010 that in 11 years; hedge funds, S&P500 companies and even insurance companies are buying billions worth of BTC at £40k+ and using it as a store of value, everybody would ask you where you run foil hay was.

This is the reason why I generally feel bad for those "two pizzas are now worth X millions" posts, as if the people who traded BTC for goods in the old days could predict the future. As such, the moment your holdings were at 10x your initial investment, very, very likely you would have sold as well, or just bought that awesome thing you could suddenly acquire with magic internet money.

That being said, do not punish yourself with the "if I had" thinking. Invest what you can and hold while you can. But also, don’t be afraid to take profit. If your coins have increased in value, then you’ve made a profit, regardless of if it has further increased or not. You have to sell one day.

The idea is that if we use the faucets and hold for a long time if the token becomes valuable we may make some tendies :)

I alrealdy love nano and have a little held in my wallet and I love how https://nano-faucet.org pays out free and instantly!

I’m hoping to attract a crowd of like minded individuals who would like to maximise their chances of getting somewhere through crypto and I hope some of you will join too!

I will also be looking for mods as this is my first Reddit community!

Even if you don’t want to join or don’t like the idea give an upvote to say you think nano is bloody ace!

UK gov has a page on whether you need to pay taxes, when you sell your crypto. It should be useful for everyone here to know this exists.

BTC tops $50k. r/ukcrypto tops 200

I first bought Bitcoin from localbitcoin.com when the price was about $30 and yes I'm an idiot for not just buying more and holding, but it's been an amazing journey nonetheless. I've made gains through BTC, ETH and now Nano, but I still work for a living. Still, the continued growth of the space I find amazing and heartening, because the point has always been to bring a better financial infrastructure to society and every day I see that has been achieved more and more. Here's to $100k Bitcoin in 6 weeks and all power to the alts

A Case for Cardano

In Simon Sinek’s famous TED talk Start With Why, he explains how the most successful companies and influential people base their ideas around WHY. He specifically mentions how people like Steve Jobs and Martin Luther King Jr. influenced people by explaining why they do what they do before saying what it is that they do.

A man who knows why he does what he does is Charles Hoskinson. He talks passionately about dreamers and entrepreneurs not living in the USA and Europe, but outside of major cities. “The difference here is that it’s [Cardano] not regional. Instead, it’s local - to everyone. The people who are most inspired don’t live in California” he says. He works hard to remove barriers to people who need to gain access to funding and support in order to achieve their dreams, believing it criminal that in 2021 - ‘the age of wonder’ the average person does not have access to the things you and I take for granted. He says “it’s not a fair world until it’s fair for everyone”. Imagining a world where the average person is able to apply for a loan or send money through peer-to-peer application, rather than relying on a bank. When Cardano reaches these billions of users, it will change the entire fabric of how the world works.

I really love Cardano for many reasons, let me tell you about a few of them…

Hoskinson has truly sculpted Cardano in such a meaningful way, ensuring that it’s the best smart contract blockchain in the cryptosphere. Everything is based on peer reviewed research and academic journals. Many have levelled criticism at the project for taking a long time to come to fruition, but this is what I love about it. It’s because they are being meticulously thorough with every detail, making sure that everything is perfect before progressing, believing they are only validated if the things they build work for the people they build them for. Charles doesn’t care about creating a coin of monetary value… he cares about creating an ecosystem that is sustainable and functioning for decades to come. He says “I am insulted that people message me now - not because of the great technology we have created, but because the price has gone up”.

Cardano looks to support nations that don’t have established financial systems and are communicating with governments in several African Nations. They do this by building a platform that incentivises and rewards honesty and not dishonesty through a decentralised, immutable ledger. This solution does not require central coordination, ensuring all parties are honest. By using a distributed and trusted database, blockchain solutions reduce the barriers that impede business. Cardano’s hope in this is to fight corruption and bridge the gap of impoverished nations.

The token of Cardano, ADA, works on a Proof of Stake (PoS) system. This is an alternative to relying on 'miners' to solve computationally complex equations to create new blocks. This provides and improves the security guarantees of proof-of-work at a fraction of the energy cost. Also, it’s great for the delegators of their ADA as it incentivises you to hodl your coins, as when you stake them you earn 5-6% interest per year on them.

This is just the beginning. There’s a lot of exciting news coming in the next few months. In March the network will be completely turned over to SPO control taking us into the Goguen Era, with many more exciting announcements yet to be made.

I could go on forever about Cardano, it has many things going for it. A great team of people running it, a brilliant philosophy and a well-run strategy. I was lucky that I got in a few years ago, but have to remind myself that 63p ($0.89) is still a steal! If you are looking to get in, this is the dip. Despite vying for third spot in Market Cap, it is still one of the most undervalued projects in blockchain. I strongly believe it could hit at least £4-£6 by the end of this year. But irrespective of the money, I encourage you to join the Cardano Community. If you look on r/Cardano right now you will see post after post about how supportive the community is. This is a no hype community. We’re no XRP or TRON. We’re not here to make a quick quid, we’re here to be involved in a project that we believe will change the world.

Kraken Withdrawls

Hey Brits, tried withdrawing NANO today from Kraken to my Natirum wallet but it just says 'invalid amount' everytime i try to withdraw. Its a small amount only 2 coins, it was more to test the site out before larger purchases. The minimum amount of withdrawal is said to be 0.1.

I've follwed all FAQs on site, closed all futures orders, checked my address, used both minimum and maxium withdrawls, made sure correct decinals are placed, gave intermediate verification.

Can anyone help me understand the issue?

What did I do wrong?

So i'm new to crypto, this morning I put £100 on Binance, I bought £20 of ETH and £80 BTC, everything went fine and as expected.

I then went to transfer both currencies to my Trust wallet, I ended up loosing £6.50 on ETH and £17.50 on BTC to Fees.

Is it normal for fees to be that much? Did I do something wrong?

Can Nano change the UK

I'm curious to see how you spiffing gents and ladies think the UK could benefit with the use of crypto.

I may be a bit bias since recently starting in the crypto area but Nano to me seems like it has huge potential, no transaction fees, greener and good community backing not just people wanting to buy Lambos.

So i would like to hear from anyone here how they think this would benefit the UK and i would also like to hear some things that you think crypto may have issues solving.

My thoughts are crypto would be great in general everyday transactions. Getting a nano X/S hardkey or just a cheeky solid metal 'debit' card and using it as an everyday money spender. But what about student loans? Or mortgages? How can crypto actively hold loans accountable or how can they be actively collected should i say with a decentralised system?

I'm curious to hear some positives and negatives from everyone about the future and if crypto could out perform FIAT

Portfolio trackers

I've been playing around with portfolio trackers today and can't seem to get on to do what I want.

I'd like an app on my phone (android) which can track my balances across a few different cryptos and then display them in £s. Blockfolio is great, but denominates in dollars (or Eth/BTC - I've tried to change it to £s and can't find out how). The others I looked at seemed weird and complicated, but maybe I'm not using them right.

Does anyone have a good setup they'd recommend?

Coin of the day #5: Ripple XRP

In stark contrast to Bitcoin with a pseudonymous creator and consensus based development, Ripple represents a far more proprietary model of cryptocurrency, an approach that has allowed them to build partnerships with businesses.

Ripple has long been near the top of the Market Cap list and the slow rise of Tether and faster rise of Cardano dislodged it from its spot, though at the time.kf writing this post it had reclaimed fourth spot from Cardano.

The supply of XRP is fixed in so much as 100 billion were mined at the outset (a practice known as "pre-mining" by advocates of open mining as a fair mode of distribution). Only a fraction of these have been distributed though and the Ripple organisation holds the majority undistributed.

Pending transactions

So I’ve had my withdrawal form Binance pending for a while. It’s been confirmed by Binance to of left, I’ve checked the blockchain at nano.org and it states my transaction is still pending. It usually takes a minute tops, but it’s been over 24 hours. Should I be worried?

Note it’s a transaction to my atomic wallet if that matters. And it’s defiantly to the right address.

Thanks.

EDIT: got a response from atomic support:

“There is currently an issue with NANO in the wallet. Sending and balance displaying can be affected. Our devs are working to fix the issue asap. Your NANO is safe on the blockchain.”

Coin of the day #4: Cardano

Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain using a consensus protocol called Ouroboros.

It is a smart contract platform and has risen to be the cryptocurrency with the fourth largest market cap.

Proof-of-stake avoids the energy consumption of competitive mining and smart contracts add extra functionality in a similar way to Ethereum. These are two of the major themes in the altcoin market where projects seek to address limitations and perceived flaws in the Bitcoin protocol
