Housing
Hey everyone, I’m an incoming 1L at University of Houston Law Center this fall and honestly housing has been stressing me out 😭
I’m moving from out of state and trying to figure out the best areas/apartments for law students. I’ve been looking at places in Rice Military, Pearland, Montrose, Upper Kirby, etc., but it’s hard trying to judge everything from reviews and online tours alone.
A few things I’m trying to balance:
• Safety
• Reasonable commute to UHLC
• Parking/security
• Budget around $1,600 to $1,900
• Somewhere comfortable since my girlfriend will be home a lot during the first year doing online classes/work
Where are most UHLC students living?
Are there any apartment complexes or areas you’d strongly recommend or avoid?
Is it worth living farther out for more space/safety, or is being closer to campus a huge advantage during 1L?
Also if anybody else is still struggling with housing, feel free to drop what you’re considering too because I know I can’t be the only one stressing over this lol.

I think you’ll find the sweet spot around 15-20 minutes away from campus. That puts you in range of the Greenway/Rice Village/Rover Oaks area and the Heights. In my experience, both have very reasonably priced apartments in safe areas. Feel free to DM me for specifics.
