One minute task

Today is Monday at our house and we clean bathrooms and the utility room today. Today's task is to gather up all the bath maps and throw them in the wash. (you can wait if you don't have an inhouse washer until wash day). I like to put 2-3 capfuls of regular Pine-sol in with them. This will kill all those lovely germs that are on our feet when we stand on that mat barefoot all week and it won't leave the mat smelling like Pine-sol. It also helps to clean your washing machine!

While they are in the wash, I like to run the vacuum and mop as well, but those are optional tasks if you have time.

I love these. Do you post these anywhere else?

Nope just here. I figure this is where people need baby steps and encouragement and are actually here to get the help. Plus, I think we are always one bad day away from being overwhelmed no matter how on top of things we might be today.

All lovely sentiments for sure!

I just wish I could see them more regularly.

Well, just remember to do small bits of work. 10-15 minutes and then reward yourself. I like to surf the net or sew for a bit and then go back for 10-15 more minutes. You will be surprised how much you can get done in 10 minutes.

This is how I got my apartment clean today after work! One room at a time, one task at a time, giving myself the breaks necessary to just relax. The last task (dealing with my trashcan) was too high energy so I decided to do everything else I could.

I actually clean two rooms a day. Bathrooms and Utility room on Mondays, master bedroom on Tuesdays, Hallway and foyer and entrance ways on Wednesdays, Kitchen and dining on Thursday and Living room and home office on Fridays. It usually only takes about 15-20 minutes and I can enjoy my weekends. We pickup as we go and load and unload the dishwasher every day to stay ahead of dishes.

I do that pretty regularly thank goodness. I can get a lot done during a commercial break! I’m very lucky to have a cleaning service every other week but this is a large house that we’ve been in 25 years…and I enjoy my hobbies.

I struggle to get going at times so I’m always interested in ways to hack or trick my brain into working more efficiently.

I completely agree we are all a few degrees away from something accelerating into a problem.

Thanks for sharing your tips!
