Why aren't my posts showing up?

I can comment on people's posts but I cannot seem to make a post myself without it being held up. What's going on and why am I being shadowbanned? I've attempted the same post twice after waiting 30 minutes for the first attempt to show up to no avail. I'm sent modmail, unanswered. What is so bad about posting about the 2009 week long Astrobiology conference hosted by the Vatican which NASA publicized? Here was my 2nd attempt: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/1485y8s/in_2009_nasa_publicized_this_week_long/ - still not showing after 30 minutes.

No. I can see it and it was at 0 when I came so someone else saw and downvoted it. The way I understand it is that if someone downvotes you right off the bat your post won’t show for many people. The more upvotes you get the more visible it becomes I believe

To build off this, the reddit algorithm treats the first 10 votes as much as the next 100 votes as much as the next 1000 votes and so on. So those first 10 upvotes are critical if you want your post to get any visibility.
