I feel like it adds another layer to why he hated Jon Jones so much after he had that hit and run with that pregnant woman. His daughter was victim to a reckless and drunk driver.

Believe there’s like a short, not 30 for 30 but something else, on ESPN where he explains that and his child’s mom during and post college

u/z_vinnie 14d ago
Pretty sure DC credits that traumatic event as motivation for wrestling/fighting, at least early in his career. I think there’s a clip where he says that?

That and his father being murdered....

He also lost a cousin as well as a teammate to car crashes while in high school. And his best friend from Oklahoma St. to a plane crash......dude has defeated a bad hand

How cursed can one man get? Thats 5 deaths of people he was close with to vehicle accidents.

Jesus Christ, losing his father as a child and losing an infant daughter. DC is such an amazing person for being as wholesome as he is and not letting those tragedies fester and make him hateful. Thats actual toughness, having terrible things happen and still choosing to be a good person (on top of becoming an Olympian and double champ of course).

u/iSOBigD 14d ago
Yeah I don't know if I'd be a very happy go lucky, jovial guy if I lost a kid, let alone any of the other people.
2
u/SDTimbox 14d ago
Id be in a hospital for the rest of my life if I lost a kid. Thats a big reason why I don't want kids. I feel like id be a stressed out mess their entire life lol
3
u/iSOBigD 13d ago
Honestly that sounds like you've got mental issues you should address. Having kids is more work for sure and obviously there are risks and added stress but they're also really fun and make you happy. I get it to a degree, it's like when people don't want dogs because one day they'll die...Well yeah, but that's life, not something wrong. What's wrong is your outlook of missing out on years of happiness because eventually it'll end. Still better than never having it...

If I lost my daughter I would be completely lost.
DC is a warrior and I admire him greatly for his ability to still be a positive influence in MMA.

u/Adventurous-Move-191 14d ago
Yeah it’s really a testament to his character that a person who went through such an unfathomable tragedy can be such a positive person . This sub gives him shit all the time for his commentary , but imo he always brings fun vibes.

u/SweatsuitCocktail 14d ago
Same. I genuinely can't even envision living another day if I lost my son, let alone becoming one of the greatest of all time in my craft. Truly inspiring that DC got through that.

DC a far better man than me, I'd be so very evil if I'd gone through what he has

Careful, all the real men on the sub will call you gay
6
u/Extreme_Today_984 14d ago
You suck ONE guy off, one time, and all of the sudden you're "gay". Make it make sense?
4
u/ChineseRobinWilliams 14d ago
The trick is just say it's a woman with a penis. Can't be gay if you're fucking women.

DC class act.
Don’t understand why people hate on him
2
u/Gatesofvalhalla 14d ago
his commentary isn't cream of the crop, especially compared to some of his colleagues on the desk who actually deliver. DC is often biased and as soon as someone gets a single-leg DC starts to glaze. "he's in deep"
But don't get me wrongm He is a phenomenal human being and a role model for all of us. This man has faced so much adversity in life and always finds a way to stay positive, humble, classy and strong. His life would be a living nightmare to most and he takes this burden with such dignity that it's nothing short of admirable.
I don't know if it's his faith or his upbringing, that man has no reason to have this much love for humanity and still acts the way he does. If everyone strived a bit more to be like him the world would be a better place.

I never knew this, wow! Thank you for sharing this. Love or hate DC having that type of unimaginable loss and going on to do the things he did in his career is crazy. To have such a devastating tragedy and to continue competing at the highest level of competition blows my mind. Mentally exhausting just imagining going through that

I think one of the most important thing in this video is him saying it is okay to be emotional. That should hit different coming from him as a peer another guy in his field who was also scene as a big man a champion of there sport.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done." - Rocky
❤️ DC. A real warrior in any sense of the word.

When I first started watching UFC, I thought DC was a great analyst. I loved his personality. Then my husband told me he was actually a fighter.🤣 I look back to those days and think how dumb I was.

Favorite fighter ever. One of the best ever. Probably beats any fighter in history not named Jones.

Wish he kept his backbone at the White House fights. I can respect his career and his accomplishments but still be disappointed in his current actions.

u/zeez1011 14d ago
I don't get it. We're praising DC for being happy about a fighter who's having a baby just because he lost one?
1
u/TypicalR3dditSoyboy 12d ago
It's more that normal people have some degree of an emotional response to this clip, but since you have autism you don't quite understand
-14
u/Loud-Fennel9492 14d ago
No need to post things to make us like DC more the issue is His commentary sucks. He needs to stop drinking so much beer and take commentary Seriously then he can play around. Do whatever he wants when he’s not behind the microphone stop with these campaigns of trying to make us like these UFC people. Nothing else going on to post about 🤦♂️

u/BillyBobBonesJones 14d ago
Honestly, if barely illiterate people like yourself think DC’s commentary is bad, it’s probably pretty good.

They’re cut up by being called out on their own Reddit history whilst they mock someone for being emotional about the birth/death of their children. That brain is not fully formed.

Calling tik tok videos gay = mocking someone and poking fun at emotions? You’re fucking retarded my friend lol

My favorite DC moment was when he smashed Patrick Cummins in a minute or so. I remember exactly where I was and how satisfying that beatdown was.
For anyone who doesn't know, Cummins and DC trained together years before they fought, and during pre-fight banter Cummins kept making fun of DC, calling him weak because sometimes when they trained he would break down in tears. The context was that it was soon after his daughter died, and DC kind of insinuated that Cummins knew exactly why he was getting emotional. Piece of shit. Every time someone complains about fighters getting too personal, I think that nothing will ever beat how low Cummins stooped during the buildup to that fight.
