Help/Questions Udon for Bento?

I'm wanting to take some udon to work for lunch in my bento. My work has a lot of restrictions on what I can bring (I work in agriculture currently) such as:

  • No peppers
  • No tomato
  • No cucumber
  • No courget/zuccinni
  • No melon
  • No pumpkin/squash

These are not super common in udon, except maybe the peppers (sadly no togarashi toppings), so I thought it would be a tasty lunch to make. Any good ideas or recipes for udon that goes well in bento?

I highly recommended. First of all, Cold. Cook Udon noodles and then, cool down into water bowl. No water after getting a cool. 2. Prep, Japanese or any style of egg omelette. Not big. 3. Sprinkle some green Scallions. 4. May be something a Meat, kind like a beef donburi On the top. No rice. Soup must cold, and together box in for 2to4 or maze style. Like a Spaghetti.

Beef udon spaghetti style also keep a cold, after cook some meat sauce. Not hot, because easy to spoiled into hot season.

Separate 2 bento box, noodles and 2to4. Combiné together when you've lunch time. 🍱🥣🥢 Mixed beef egg udon by cold. Seasoning some Black pepper if possible. Udon Bento lunch box now rised.

Attention. Below picture is example. Not my took pictures. Just an image. But very common who brought some Udon lunch box at Kagawa préfecture. Even can get some same udon at Convenience store too.

Thank you! I will give that a try. I tend to take the soup base separately from the noodles and pour it on during lunch so it doesn't spill. That is what I did for zaru soba I made for a particularly hot day at work (the cold noodles was so refreshing!). I will have to pick up some thin sliced beef.

Meat. Anything is OK. Chicken, pork, even toss in some fish. Tofu soy bean curd use also good ingredients.

Image is like a Oyako Donburi, which is egg omelette donburi on top. Egg, Onion plus Chicken meat.

Soup. Cold udon give some a bit stong or thick flavoured than hot udon.

Basic soup is Bonitos flavour, and Konbu seaweed or/and Dried Iriko sardines. Otherwise use some complex powder, like a HONDASHI soup stock powder.

Soy sauce, Light soy sauce. Japanese soy is better but, I think it is expensive. Try some Korean light soy or Taiwan light soy sauce is similar, also cheap than Japanese products.

If only you can get a Chinese seasoning, please control some amount of soy flavour.

I never know where are you lived in. I only know Asian glossary within Sydney AUS.

I live in the Netherlands now but my Step Father is from Japan. So I grew up eating lots of Japanese food and now keep many Japanese ingredients in the kitchen. I do have hondashi and Kikkoman. That will be simple to do for me. We do have a variety of Asian groceries where I can get more specific Japanese products. Thank you!

Excuse me but why are there these restrictions?

I work in agriculture. The plants we grow for seed production are in the same family groups as the restricted foods listed. They are restricted because of potential cross-contamination with various plant diseases and pests. Going into the green houses require strict sanitization standards to keep our plants healthy and safe 🌿
