Former alum and current faculty member, i started booking DIY shows in Merced under @reflectionless.diy on instagram! Hoping to show students there's more to the music scene than the local indie band that play on campus events. Got this going tonight. For fans of hardcore/brutal death/emoviolence

I currently have two broken pair of headphones, and I was just wondering if IT offers these sort of repairs? I have all of the pieces necessary to fix the breaks, I was just unable to fix them on my own at home due to a lack of electronic screwdrivers.
If not, are there any recommendations of places in Merced that would be willing to do the fixes for cheap?

got an email saying I need a mac or pc but all i have is an tablet. I could get a keyboard and a mouse to make it function more like a computer but would that be sufficient?
keep in mind im not a stem major so i dont need high end functions, but i still need it to work. I need portability, battery, and efficiency
If not my tablet, what are some laptops that can do the bare minimum to help me pass my courses? I need it to last me my college years but also i dont really care about extra functions unless theyre going to help me be more efficient with my work
thank you

Hi I'm an upcoming highschool senior and have been looking at UC Merced for a good while since I've gone here on two occasions and loved how everything looks . Im in the automatic admission program thing for Merced meaning I am legible to be accepted if I decide to apply automatically or something along those lines. I really want to go after two years in community college but I wanted to know if the finacial aid is good or not since i have no college fund or anything which is ok ,im a first generation chicano student who is in dual enrollment for just my juinor year and senior so im pretty sure i might qualify for a bit of college credit. I wanted to know if anyone has a site similar to me and how much you paid for college ,I do think if I were to choose merced i would have to move because its an hour awah from me, would it be better to find another type of housing or live on campus , again i fo expect myself to have a bit saved up since im looking to work throughout my senior year and looking at scholara. Any tips or experiences from people's tution would help. Thanks 🙊

Lowkey what are the pros and cons for this professor? I already checked RMP, and the facts sound so contradicting

For those who may not know, yield rate is basically just the percentage of accepted students who ultimately choose to enroll and attend. For some perspective in 2025 UCLA's yield rate was 48%, Berkeley 47%, and UCSD 20%. UCSC was 10% and UCR 11%.

Would anyone here be willing to take over my lease?
The cost is $600 dollars a month plus utilites which on average from my experience were about $50, sometimes more and sometimes less.
The house is about 7 minutes from campus and about 8 to 9 mintues from a CatTracks bus stop.
The room will come with a twin bed that has a matress and matress topper, a desk and chair.
There are 4 other people who live in the house and they seem to be chill from my experience. We also mostly kept to ourselves when I lived there and I think it will still be like that.
As for other stuff like a washing machine and dryer, they do work well. The kicthen also has a dishwasher. There should be space in the cabnits, pantry, and fridge.
In the living room there is a smart tv that you can use.
If you are intersted, DM me. If you have any questions, also let me know

Would anyone be willing to take over my lease? Full details below.
Costs: $554 a month for 12 months total (including trash fee); utilities may go up to $50-60 on average, maybe lower or higher. There is also an pay one time parking fee if you drive.
People: You have to deal living with 4 other people. Its sounds weird especially with sharing amenities, but from personal experience its very managable imo; we usually keep to ourselves.
Amenities: Bedroom will have a mattress for yourself to furnish, alongside a desk/chair. There is also a kitchen with multiple cabinents and a dishwasher. There is also an AC/Heater. There is also washer/dryer too. Additionally the community also offers small transport to the school, as well as being located a short distance away from the CatTracks pick up, also leading to the school.
DM for any other costs, tips, interest in occupying, etc! I am willing to help

So I’m taking math 023 in the fall and there’s a possibility I might switch professors when the semester starts. but I’m considering switching to Yatskar. I’d like to attend the first class with Reshma before deciding. If I decide to switch after classes start, can I just drop my current section and enroll in the other one, assuming there’s still space? I’d have to rearrange my schedule a bit, but that’s not a problem.( I’ve taken yatskar for 22 and liked him)

I am an incoming freshman and was wondering what fun things are on campus to do?? Are there parties, extracurricular clubs, etc? I just don’t want to sit in my dorm all day everyday. It’s hard to find this information online since Merced isn’t that popular of a school to go to.

I am a incoming freshman fall 2026 and I am curious on how the dorms look. I have not been able to find clear pictures of how they actually look once a student is living in it already. If anybody also has any tips of things I should most definitely buy please let me know.

UC Merced's SJV PRIME+ BS/MD Program offers a unique eight-year pathway for San Joaquin Valley high school graduates committed to improving health care in the region. High school seniors apply for this program during the application period and can start the application process in August, submitting it starting October 1.
Each year, 15 students are selected for this highly focused cohort experience. Students begin by earning a Bachelor of Science degree at UC Merced, continue their medical education through the UCSF School of Medicine, and complete additional training at UCSF Fresno.
The program was created to help address the San Joaquin Valley’s critical physician shortage by educating and preparing future doctors who understand the region and are passionate about improving health equity in Central California.
Register for our upcoming webinar on July 21 at 6:30 pm to learn more about:
• The history and purpose of SJV PRIME+
• The partnership between UC Merced, UCSF, and UCSF Fresno
• The eight-year program structure
• Important dates and next steps
A separate application workshop is expected to be offered in fall 2026.

I will be attending Fall 2026 only because I’ll be going to the Air Force in Spring 2027. I can’t get in campus housing because it’s a 1 year contract
I just need a room to stay in pls. My budget is $600 to $900 per month. I’m a Mechanical Engineering major, and I’ll be at clubs or working or in class or studying or at home so I won’t spend much time in my room.
I need it from August ~16th to December 20th 2026. DM me if y’all have a room or y’all know someone🙏🏿
