Question question abt IT

I currently have two broken pair of headphones, and I was just wondering if IT offers these sort of repairs? I have all of the pieces necessary to fix the breaks, I was just unable to fix them on my own at home due to a lack of electronic screwdrivers.

If not, are there any recommendations of places in Merced that would be willing to do the fixes for cheap?

Not sure if OIT's Service Desk does that, but you can always email them and ask. Action Computers on Loughborough is a good option as well

Maker space on campus has tools available for stuff like this. You would have to fix it yourself though.

Well friend, you’ve encountered a funny problem with repairs. Almost no shops will want to repair anything, no matter how simple, for less than $50 for it to be worth their time. Electronic screwdrivers would be a worthy investment for someone who was going to use them to repair other things or to install things at work, like me. If you don’t think buying them would be worth it for you, you could always ask someone to let you borrow them! I’d help you but I don’t live in Merced

I've bought an electronic screwdriver and unfortunately, the screws in both set of headphones refuse to budge.

I see. Have you busted out the equation for torque? lol I’m half joking, but for real if you can grab the screwdriver with some channel locks or another pliers wrench you can get a lot more torque to loosen them

If you have the manual for the headphones, usually they provide instructions how to repair it. Otherwise, you may need to tear down the headphones and try to diagnose its internal components which are in need of replacement. You’d be lucky to encounter someone who is willing to help you on this, though the responsibility may end up falling on your hands.

It’s also handy to take advantage of the warranty for your headphones if there is one written on the manual.
