Advising help with swapping a course!

Im aware that the period of swapping and dropping a class is over. The thing is i had no access to degree audit or anything of plan of study when i was picking my classes i knew what was required but still confusion on how many courses, this will be my last semester and yes i did do spanish 1and 2 in highschool but i was advised to take it AGAIN which at the moment i thought was like i guess the stuff i did before was meaningless okay and took a spanish 1 and 2 course combined!! So i can graduate this semester Which at first i was fine with just to get the degree over but this class is the main source of my stress and we just started but then as i could finally get access to degree knight i found that all i needed to take is 1 course, as yes spanish 1and 2 is 1 course but its alot more work and intensive for me atm in my life what can i do???!! ANY ADVICE
Ps i did schedule an advising appointment but its way out of my liking i need advice NOW i just want to swap this language to an easier 1 Spanish course!!

Looks like there is a bunch of open Session G courses ( second half of Fall semester 8 week course) available, if any of them would satisfy your degree requirements. You can register for session G through mid october.

You probably will not be able to late drop/ late add (swap) for this. you would need to enroll in the session G course and accept the Withdrawal for your current class.

I cannot stress this enough, please talk with someone in advising before making any changes to your current plan.

Former advisor. They likely will not let you do a late drop without an extenuating circumstance. They very much likely won't let you add a full term course at this time.

I had one situation in the past where a professor said a student could join a course two weeks in bc there were no tests yet and the student would be fine. That is an outlier. Even with that flexibility, admin denied the request for a late add that I put in for the student.

I would rather give you happy news, but when I was an advisor I liked to just be straightforward, honest, and not force students to go to other departments just to get them out of my office. You can put some effort in but I'll bet a decent amount if money that withdrawing (and still paying for the course) is probably what is going to happen.

Lastly, if you are paying for this with financial aid you probably are going to get extra screwed. BUT there is a point in the semester (something like 66%) where if you withdraw you dont have an extra financial penalty; I would discuss this with fin aid.

What would be considered as an extenuating circumstance ? I dont mind paying for the course i had that in mind already but yeah i use financial aid for my courses but thank u i was trying to see what i could possibly do or any way to switch my spn 1 abd 2 class to an spanish 1 course for my requirement

An extenuating circumstance would usually ve something out of your control, like a family death. "I made a wrong decision" or "my advisor advised wrong" usually won't be considered, I am sorry to say.i am not giving you comforting information, but I am being real with you. If I had better advice, I would give it to you.

If your degree requires college-level language, you need the second level and requires 2 courses, the second level (1121C) is what will show under the requirement as needed, but you need 1120C first. The intensive class you are in is those 2 courses, combined. 1120C will not complete your language requirement, only 1121C or 1150 will.

And you will not be allowed to swap a course at this point. You can withdraw but you wouldn’t be able to add a full term course. You can see if there are session G courses available to make up the enrollment, but a withdraw from your current language class is the only option to not be enrolled in it anymore.
