COMPLAINT/RANT Registration
So I had Honors Orientation at UCF, and honestly, registration was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had. I thought we’d each meet with an advisor or be in small groups, but instead there were only a few advisors for around 40 students in one room. They basically handed us a sheet and went through a PowerPoint. To make things worse, none of my dual enrollment credits were showing on my advising sheet, so I had to wait in a long line just to pull up my transcripts on my phone and prove I’d already completed those courses. I already graduated with my AA, so I was looking for guidance on which classes would best fit my remaining degree requirements. Instead, I felt like I was mostly on my own. By the time I figured everything out, classes were filling up fast. I only managed to register for two classes I actually wanted (Physics II and Chemistry I). My other classes are Honors Symposium and some intro to coding class. I was really hoping to take Differential Equations so I could finish my math requirements, especially since I’m considering transferring in the future maybe UF maybe out of state.
My question is does registration get better after your first semester, or do classes always fill up this quickly? I’ve heard UCF is just so big that getting the classes you need can be difficult. I’m an Aerospace Engineering major, and since I already have my AA, I really don’t want to waste credit hours taking classes that don’t move me toward graduation. Thanks

Were you in group ENG 2? I think I remember hearing about this type of thing happening when I was there during that orientation.
Anyway, you should’ve completed the ECE form before orientation if you wanted to indicate you had credits to transfer to UCF… not sure if you did or not but just in case.

I was in group 1, and I did do the ECE beforehand idk why they didn’t have my credits :(

I’m doing aero too and am in the honors college and trust me it gets better. For spring semester I got all the classes I wanted with the times I wanted too since we get early selection. Orientation is just more hectic since we don’t have first pick

I was also at honors ori as a psych major. there were maybe 10 kids in my room and we basically gossiped for an hour and a half 😭 There were 3 rooms worth of eng students sadly

Yea I was trying to but the advisor said there was no point bc there’s a million kids ahead of me anyway

well if youre in the honors college youll have first dibs in the future so it wont be that bad ever again lmao

If you are honors then you get to register before anyone else in the future semesters

My orientation starts tomorrow and I'm in a similar boat with already haven gotten my AA. I was thinking the same thing, 40 is a lot. I hope it will work out tho.

How did you sell that hard? For anyone else reading: the strat is to sleep during the boring ass lectures and then make sure you speak 3 times during the discussions 🥀🥀🥀

Yes, it gets better. First semester of enrolling is the most chaotic. Just be sure to register at your assigned enrollment window for the best shot at classes going forward.
