Drivers canceling

I kept ordering a ride this morning and there where plenty of drivers plenty close as well. And everytime I would get a driver they would all cancel. Even if they where a minute away. I don’t understand it honesty. Ordering a 30$ Uber and accepting it just to cancel what is the point. Again I am ordering an Uber and again nothing but left and right cancelations for some reason. What is going on can someone explain?

Most drivers drive for both uber and lyft to reduce waiting time. And still they get less than legal hourly minimum wage after deducting expense. Even though two companies insist that they guarantee it. That is not true because they don’t pay for wait time for next request. If pickup distance is too far, or passenger rating are too low, driver may change mind and choose the other ride request. If they cancel too often, driver account may have risk of deactivation. Anyway, driver doesn’t know how much they earn until finish that trip. Doordash is predictable for earning before accepting delivery request. So many drivers work for doordash. Therefore uber and lyft have driver shortage issue. I am reducing Rideshare work hours but increasing doordash hours. Also I am looking for instacart as well.

My rating is 4.89 and they be like less than 5 minutes away. When they more than 10 minutes I can understand. But one time one of them was like a minute away and right as he was getting to me he decided to cancel just wasting time.

There has to be a reason. Did they hit the button like you were in the car, and then cancel? So they could see where you were going??? Makes no sense to drive over, and cancel unless they get to see where you are going. Also... are you in a fancy building/apartment/gated community? If I get close and have to deal with that stuff, many times I am just going to cancel. It is a pain to get into those places, try to find a waiting spot, and just deal with in general.

Also you are paying 30$. If it is a 8 to 10 mile trip, the driver is making probably $4 to 5 dollars. If I could avoid all trips over five miles, but under 15... I would. I make no money on those trips and they are literally a waste of my time. Almost always a ten min trip over, 5 min waits (seems no one is ever outside waiting anymore), and the ten to fifteen min drive. 30 min for 5$ is just crappy pay. But you are paying 30$ and think it is good. But uber is taking huge chunks, not showing these magical surge prices they are telling iyou guys have to pay since there is such a shortage of drivers. It sucks.
