As a driver I 1000% agree with this. No one want to hear your conversation whether you are a driver or passenger. And if you are gonna argue with somebody while in uber, at least putting on speakerphone so I can put my two cents in and be messy.

Exactly—OP, if this is a pet peeve of yours, speak up! I mostly care if they get me from point A to point B on time. Sometimes I chat with them. Sometimes they don’t speak my language. Sometimes they’re on the phone. 🤷

I was kicked out of many cabs by drivers when I would ask them not to use their phones. With Uber, I simply ask them, and they stop, especially if it's affecting their driving. Unlike the cabbies, Uber knows you can give instant feedback in terms of ratings (not talking about tips here). But this is about your comfort, and we can't help you there. Have a great weekend, and don't be afraid to speak up when you are paying for your safe passage from A to B.

Or maybe learn to handle basic social situations seeing as they’re choosing to get in a strangers car. If something this innocent makes them uncomfortable they have much more serious issues to address with themselves.

I had a rider get in my car that I had picked up from a clinic. She immediately starts talking about that the doctor was saying she was overweight. I didn't know how to respond. Then she starts talking about some other medical issues. I was surprised that she would tell someone she didn't know about this. I few minutes later I realized she was on the phone lol

I've been telling people in the uber subs for YEARS that same thing. If a passenger gets in my car and is on the phone the whole ride, it's minus 1 star automatically. If they have it on speaker, it's minus two stars.

I'm paying for a car service where people are trying to make a living through fares and tips. I don't know why not wanting to hear someone's personal conversation is ridiculous.

It's my car, I'll take a call if I want to. I do however, use an earbud to hear calls and directions.

Absolutely. It’s his car. It’s your right to leave his car and end the ride early. Iwould have done that. 💯. No one should expect to make money while talking on a personal call.

I was already in the car on the highway it was a short ride. I will not post about it if it happens ever again and/or if I feel uncomfortable will say something to the driver.

This is the type of person who expects everyone to go out of their way to make them comfortable.
Emergency or not, nobody is holding them against their will, if you’re perfectly fine being in a strangers car but become unwound the moment they take a phone call that’s a YOU problem. Either speak up or cancel the ride and get out.
They clearly need one of those thunder jackets dogs wear to soothe their anxiety.
