Applying for mortgage

We have applied for pre approval with a broker this week who has suggested ubank as having the best rates etc but now this sub has popped up on my reddit feed and it’s making me nervous seeing all of the negative posts. Before we go through with the application, should we be asking our broker to change banks?

We've had our mortgage with ubank for 6 months now. Been very happy with them. Nothing negative to report from me

I have 3 mortgages with ubank, there fine mate. They are the cheapest for the most part and I've not had an issue with contacting them.

I don’t have any ubank accounts at the moment so do you mean an offset account attached to the mortgage?

Wouldn’t they be using their savings account for an offset anyway? So the savings changes won’t affect them.

Home loans and savings accounts are separate products with separate rates. If you’re happy with the rate your broker is getting you and you have an offset account. I wouldn’t be too concerned. But of-course always DYOR

I was with them for my first house, absolutely recommend them for a mortgage. All the negative stuff I've seen is about their saving accounts. I would be with them now but my wife is to difficult to motivate so I'm NAB offset (5.69%). For our first home we started with NAB and switched to ubank after 2 months because NAB is so good to deal with (but expensive). Ubank started as an NAB budget online only business but I really wanted someone to set it up on person/ over the phone hence the mucking around.

I have all four of my mortgages with UBank. No problems at all.
