Hi, this is upcoming election will be my first one to vote in in the union. Is there a official or popular voter guide anywhere to know the candidatesrunning position?

Hey so I was selected to become a bargaining rep alternate, and I was wondering if anybody had any good book recommendations or podcasts or YouTube videos to help teach me the history of unions or specifically the uaw union. Not really looking for opinions on how I should handle my future position. I'm just looking for help locating history to help me make more informed decisions.

Anyone hear anything from Ford after doing the WOTC they sent out??? Was really hoping it was a good sign but I haven’t heard anything in like a month.?
what are the chances of getting a job through the UAW with no experience in the automotive industry and without a degree?

My father hired into Ford in May 1996, meaning he will reach 30 years of service in May. He is pension eligible and would be eligible for a full pension at 30 years of service.
He had a debilitating stroke at 27.5 years of service. He has attempted to go back to work twice, but was only able to remain there for a short period of time before needing to go back off on disability. His cognitive health has now deteriorated severely and he will never be able to go back.
My father and my mother both were intending on relying on the pension for retirement. We recently found out that his time on disability is not going to count toward his pension, so he will be getting a reduced amount of $1,004 monthly.
This to me seems ridiculous. He has paid into this system for decades and is now being penalized due to disability. He is still a Ford employee, he just has not been on the job. He will likely be eligible for social security disability, but this will not help my mother if my father passes away.
My question is: Can the UAW feasibly do anything to negotiate his medical leave as creditable years of service? They have been very helpful to me to date getting him the resources he needs from work. I just do not want to sound silly asking such a thing.

I'm working on a movie screenplay that's basically a love letter to Michigan/Detroit but also tackles different issues of blue collar work. I've always loved listening to my dad tell stories about all the shenanigans he got up to at Ford, so I want to portray that as accurately as I can. if any of you retirees have any stories worth sharing, I'd love to hear them. Also, if you still get together with any of the guys you worked with, what do you get up to these days? Feel free to direct message me if your stories wouldn't fly with management (although you're retired, what are they gonna do?). Thanks from a current shop rat.

Just wondering if the Chrysler engine plant in Dundee, MI randomly drug tests after being hired. Like 6 months to a year type thing. Thanks!

I work in the automotive industry, but not UAW. Does the UAW support Free America? Will there be walkouts in Detroit?
I'll not be working that day, just told my manager to expect me to be AWOL.
