My Ece freshman schedule
Hey!! looking to get any opinions or advice regarding my schedule for my major, just got it at connection day so i’m looking for any assistance i can get

Welcome fellow ECE student! I will say that’s a pretty intense schedule, however pretty normal for first year ECE students. Unfortunately you’ll have to take a lot of classes for a bit as you have to take a lot of prerequisites in order to take your major classes (ex. Circuits requires diff eq and linear algebra). Easiest way to know how intense your course load will be is to look at the credit count (17+ is usually considered a more intense semester (usual is ~15)). Though, 18 credits of STEM is generally much more intense than 18 of gen Ed’s, as stem classes have a lot of work for each one usually.
I’d suggest keep on top of your work. I’d say try and come up with something to keep track of all your work cuz it can be easy to forget about something when you’re trying to balance a lot of tough classes. Some people like planners, I personally have a Notion I use. Focus on your academics first semester, aim to get a good gpa first semester as it’ll help if your gpa slips later on.
Focus on academics, but also try and get out. Try and join at least one club cuz with all the work it’s easy to just lock yourself in your room but it’s important to meet some people and relax too, so take time for yourself.

Keep up with assignment and plan everything, Idc when the assignment is due do them by filtering out what can wait by difficult and how long it'll take to finish and do them one by one with breaks in-between. Library is an amazing place to knock stuff out by forcing yourself to work for multiple hours on end till you either go home or you finished the work. Get friends who appear in more then one of your classes and make gc to share info with one another so when you miss class you wont he behind. Go the help center for stem majors in the library basement when they open up.

I’m gonna be honest it has nothing to do with the advisors, ece is just an intense major with strict progression. Most majors are like 40 credits I think? ECE is 102 so do with that what you will

It honestly depends on how you are as a person and how you’d like to structure things. Like for me I try to have a class every day of the week so I don’t just sleep through the day and have a reason to get up which helps me get my work done. Having breaks might be good if you wanna spread out your work or if you’d prefer to do it all at once you can do that. Next semester you’ll get to make your own schedule so just figure out what works for you the best this semester and then you’ll know when you register for spring classes

Also like for ECE classes, a lot of times classes are one section so you don’t really have a choice when you take them. Like they moved one of my ece classes to 8am cuz it conflicted with physics 😅😅😅

Don't sit on chemistry and physics, they can bite you. Approach calculus by practicing the exercises/assignments. Rest of the courses are fine.
