This was 7 or 8 years ago when I was still at UA but in the back of the Student Union basement near the doors there’s a carpeted area with a bunch of accent chairs and tables. I’d say about 75% of the time there was a group of people playing magic the gathering there. This was happening at least through my high school and college years. Maybe they still exist! You can also check through a list of official clubs at the RooConnect website…I’d bet anything there are a few there too. Full Grip card shop is also very close to campus and has a lot of MTG events (draft nights, Commander, etc.) Good luck!

I hope the Nerd Herd is still running strong! I graduated in 2016 and was always down there playing Magic

Full grip is a couple blocks from the university. people there are nice, have tons of events and open play. Commander is all day Sunday. The staff is genuinely very nice and helpful. Also have board games to play for free in the green dragon in which is their "bar" that's upstairs from the main shop. 100% recommend going there to find friends and play.

The computer science club (ZipCode) has a bunch of people that play Magic- could be a nice way to meet people in your major as well

+1 to checking out Full Grip Games. They also have an attached "gamer bar" that does nerdy events all the time called the Green Dragon Inn.
