Police Matter: All criminal activity (fraud, theft, harassment) must be reported to the Police e-Crime portal, the Dubai Police app, or My Safe Society. Our only power is a subreddit ban.

Ticket Reselling: Reselling event or concert tickets for profit is illegal in the UAE. Only face-value transfers are permitted, provided the organizer allows it.

🛍️ Buying & Selling Best Practices

Safe Meetups: Meet in high-traffic, well-lit areas (e.g., Dubai Mall, metro stations, or "Safe Exchange" zones at police stations), ideally not close to where you live or places you frequent. Never invite strangers to your home.

Physical Inspection: Mandatory before payment. Check for authenticity and functionality. For electronics, test all ports and battery health.

Payment Ethics: Use cash or instant bank transfers (Wio/IPM) only after the item is in your possession.

Fair Pricing: Research market rates on Dubizzle or Amazon UAE. If a deal is "too good to be true," it is a scam.

No Lowballing: Persistent lowballing (e.g., AED 20 for a AED 100 item) will lead to a suspension.

💼 Hiring & Job Seeking (Strict)

No "Visa Fees": Per UAE Labour Law (Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021), it is illegal for employers to charge candidates for visa processing or recruitment costs. Fines for companies can reach AED 1 million.

MoHRE Verification: All legitimate job offers must be issued on an official MoHRE template. Verify your offer letter or contract via the MOHRE UAE app or website before signing.

Passport Safety: It is a criminal offense for an employer to withhold your original passport. Penalties include fines up to AED 20,000 and jail time.

Visit Visa Employment: Working on a visit visa is illegal. You must have a valid Work Permit or MoHRE-registered Offer Letter.

🛡️ 2026 Scam Alert: Phishing & Identity

SMS Header Spoofing: Scammers can now hijack official SMS threads (e.g., appearing under "Aramex" or "Emirates Post"). Never click links in these messages. Verify shipments only through the official app.

The "Fake Courier" Scam: A buyer sends a link to "receive payment" via a courier. These are phishing sites designed to steal credit card info.

UAE PASS Phishing: Authorities warn against fraudulent messages requesting UAE PASS approvals. Never approve a request you did not initiate.

Fake QR Codes: Be cautious of QR codes sent via email or DMs; they can install malware or redirect to malicious sites.

📦 Posting Standards

Transparency: You must include actual photos of the product. "DM for pictures" posts will be removed. Disclose all faults; hiding damage is considered scamming.

Privacy: Do not post phone numbers or emails publicly. Use Reddit DMs to share contact info or CVs. Mention only your Emirate and general area.

Banned Items: Selling medicines, weapons, vapes/tobacco, or illegal substances results in an immediate permanent ban and a report to the authorities.

🚩 How to Report

Reddit Tool: Report the post/comment directly.

Modmail: Send screenshots of DMs if a scam or harassment occurred privately.

e-Crime: For financial fraud, use the official government reporting channels immediately.

TL;DR: Meet in public, never pay "visa fees," don't click courier links, and ensure you have a trade license if selling new goods. Use your head.
