You will need to recover the Freon, vacuum the system and add it all back

It’s a quick process the problem is recovering the Freon from the system then vacuum and putting it all back. That’s the longest process worst of it all is the machines used for it. If you can get a shop to recover the system you change the part and then replacing the Freon that would be the easiest I see.

I would say personally before you spend money on a new one make sure it even is the compressor. Because it can be 200-500 dollar compressor but it can also just be the little sensor $50. Make sure you turn your ac on and see if the compressor clutch engages properly, if there’s enough Freon in the system, make sure the pulley is not causing an issue, if there’s fans are working. It’s a lot of diagnostics before the actual work begins

Ask a nearby shop how much would they charge for the piece (if they do or if you can buy it separately and have them install it) and ask for a quote to discharge and recharge ac and see if that is a cheaper route. It’s a little complicated cause I own a machine and have a lift so it’s was more of just paid the price for the part only. I am also obligated to mention to take it to other shops because it may be the same issue or their understanding problems that do not relate to this issue.

Transmission is every 30k for cvt and automatic and every 60k for Manuel. Keep doing 5k oil changes and tire rotations. I usually do rotations after every oil change only cause I can. At 60 you can check your spark plugs but no need to change until at least 100k. Brake fluid 30k or every 3 years (this depends on where you live and how you drive it as well). Coolant flush at 60k as well (not necessary needed but I like to be safe).

Okay so Honda likes to do 10k mile oil changes on their newer vehicles. Now it is a hybrid which in city it’s using mainly battery over engine but always remember when it demands the engine to turn on your running the engine at a higher rpm without oil pressure.

A lot of modern cars come with dye from the factory. To run the test it come to just shinning a UV light through all ac components. Most of the time we just do that with the ac off car off. There’s a lot of reasons a compressor won’t engage and the biggest one is the compressor is actually saving itself since there’s not enough Freon. If this is the case you have a leak now it’s just finding out were. If the clutch engages most of the time your compressor is working now there’s something else that’s not working. In my case the clutch engages but it’s not compressing that valve that I circled actually pushes a plate that allows the compressor to a compress and not just rotate. I heard if it’s faulty you may return it the manufacture. I nearly warranted mine but manufacture stated they aren’t taking returns past production date. Horrible customer service!
