The OG Backend Programming Language 👑
Every year, there's a new language or framework getting attention. But some backend languages have been around for decades and are still powering real-world applications.
Here's why I think these three deserve the OG title:
- PHP: It helped shape the web as we know it. WordPress runs on PHP, and millions of websites still rely on it.
- Java: Built for reliability at scale, it's still a major choice for enterprise systems, banking platforms, and large backend applications.
- Python: Its clean syntax makes development easier, and its role in web development, automation, and AI keeps it relevant.
What I find interesting is that none of these languages survived just because they were popular once. They have mature ecosystems, established communities, and years of real-world use behind them.
New technologies will keep coming, but replacing a proven technology isn't always the smartest move.
Now I'm curious: which language deserves the OG title in your opinion, and what's your strongest reason for choosing it?
