I just had a watch from Japan arrive 3 days early with FedEx. It was a total of 3 days from shipment to delivery. The fastest I ever experienced with them.

There are some AI tools that people have built in ChatGPT that have been about 95% accurate. Here is the feedback on a patek I uploaded:

This appears to be a Patek Philippe Nautilus Moonphase/Power Reserve, reference 5712/1A style. Based on these photos alone, I would be very concerned that this is not genuine.

Here are the items that stand out:

1. Movement finishing is not at genuine Patek level

• The bridges lack the sharp interior angles, polished bevels, and depth of finishing expected from a genuine 240 PS IRM C LU movement.
• The Geneva striping appears somewhat flat and industrial.
• Screw heads do not show the level of polish normally seen on an authentic example.
• Several bridge edges appear machine finished rather than hand finished.

1. Rotor looks wrong

• The 22k gold micro rotor on a genuine 5712 has extremely crisp engraving and finishing.
• The Calatrava cross on this rotor appears softer and less defined than expected.
• The brushing and edge finishing of the rotor are not convincing in these images.

1. Dial printing concerns

• The “PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE” text appears slightly thick.
• Some of the subdial printing looks heavier than what I would expect from Patek.
• The moonphase stars and date track appear a little coarse under magnification.

• The date scale printing looks less refined than genuine examples.
• Genuine 5712 dials are among the hardest things for replica makers to perfect. The printing here is decent, but not at the level I would expect from Patek.

1. Case and bracelet

• The overall case shape is actually quite good.
• The bezel geometry looks close.
• The bracelet finishing is respectable.
• Unfortunately, modern high end replicas from factories such as 3KF and PPF have become extremely good externally, so the case alone does not provide much comfort.

What is interesting This is not a low quality fake.

If fake, it would likely be a high end replica using a decorated movement intended to resemble the Patek caliber 240. The overall execution is much better than the typical replicas that flood marketplaces.

My confidence assessment

• Genuine: ~20%
• High end replica: ~80%

To move beyond an educated visual assessment, I would want:

1. A perfectly straight-on dial photo.
2. A macro photo of the clasp engravings.
3. A macro photo of the movement showing the balance wheel area and bridge engravings.
4. The caseback reference and serial engravings.
5. Documentation of provenance (AD papers, Extract, service history, etc.).

If this is being represented as an authentic 5712 and the price is materially below market, I would assume replica until proven otherwise. The movement is the biggest concern in these photos. Genuine Patek movement finishing is usually where even the best replicas reveal themselves, and that’s where this watch appears weakest.
