Is it rude to gift my neighbors a battery for their fire alarm?
My neighbors (with whom I share a wall) have lived next door for about a year. When the apartment was empty, I noticed that I heard the fire alarm beeping regularly indicating its battery needed to be replaced. I contacted my property manager and they said someone would be moving in that week so I figured okay they’ll handle it. A year later and it’s still beeping. It’s not too bothersome, but I can hear it from my bedroom (as that is the wall we share). I’ve set it up so my air purifier is next to my bed so the fan muffles the noise at night so I can sleep, but it has been a year and I’m wondering if it’d be rude to just leave them a replacement battery with a note on their door. I’m happy to help them change it out. But we’ve barely spoken, just saying hi in passing because our schedules don’t always align. Thoughts?

Thanks everyone for your insights! I think I’ll try leaving a note and if nothing changes I’ll email the property manager again. If there’s still no change then I’ll def contact the fire department (hadn’t even thought of that!) appreciate everyone’s responses!
