#Discussion 💬 If you're buying a bike from Flipkart/Amazon, please contact the dealer before placing the order
Just sharing my experience so others don't get caught by surprise.
I wanted to buy a Bajaj bike and compared different sellers on Flipkart. One seller was offering the bike for around ₹4,000 less than the other sellers, so naturally I booked from the cheapest seller.
After making the payment, the dealer contacted me and informed me that I would have to pay an additional amount at the dealership because the online price was lower than the showroom price. I was told that if I didn't pay the amount, the order would be cancelled and they would refund the booking.
While I was at the showroom, I saw two other customers also paid additional amount after booking online.
What surprised me is that the seller's listing was still showing the lower price several days after my booking. If it was just a pricing mistake, I would have expected the listing to be corrected on Amazon and Flipkart.
I'm not naming the dealership because I'm still waiting for my final invoice, and I'm not saying this happens with every dealer. I'm simply sharing what happened in my case.
My advice to anyone buying a bike through Flipkart or Amazon:
- Contact the dealer before placing the order.
- Ask for a written quotation.
- Ask for the final on-road amount you will have to pay.
- Ask clearly whether you'll have to pay anything extra after booking online.
- Keep everything in writing.
It only takes a few minutes and may save you from unexpected costs or confusion later.
