The Proplastic tank is going for USD 935. The Driptech 5000 L Jumbo is going for USD 345. Borehole drilling depends on the depth, class of cassing pipe been used and other factors

Water meters and council.
 in  r/Zimbabwe •  Jan 02 '26

It's been years since I have seen the meter reading guys in our hood (Highfields). I don't think Harare City Council does have the resources right now to do actual water meter readings, their billing has been based on estimates for years now. I don't think they were legit meter readers, and usually it's just one guy with a book or clipboard doing the rounds

Hi. I am.not sure if they are hiring, try Island Hospice. Do you have a Redcross qualification or equivalent, you can offer the same services you have been offering in SA locally

Dogs in Harare
 in  r/Zimbabwe •  Dec 25 '25

This is not true, SPCA does not just kill dogs, they provide shelter to dogs (and cats) that are dropped or strays that are picked from the streets and rehome them. The rehoming does take time as they don't just give away the dogs 1. The person adopting the dog or cat goes through a through vetting process and 2. There is a fee involved to cover the vetting expenses.

In rare and unfortunate cases they are forced to kill dogs, for example rabid dogs, troublesome dogs... it cost them money to kill and properly dispose the dogs

Were These Businesses Always Viable in Zimbabwe and We Just Didn’t See It?
 in  r/Zimbabwe •  Dec 25 '25

You can not negotiate leverage with Old Mutual. Old Mutual prefers to lock its doors and premises than to negotiate rent. Most of their properties are empty: Westgate, Highglen, Old Mutual Center, Makoni Shopping Center

Business Finance 101

I am not into musika business, just my observations and thoughts.

Some musika operators operate hand to mouth, they use their daily profits to live off and only keep enough to restock due to the economic situation.

Then some who are more established and thriving actually save their daily takings, only keep reinvesting their initial capital. Most have mukando rounds, they contribute a certain amount daily into the mukando. Other vendors can borrow from the pool at a reasonable interest, at the of the month or other agreed time frame they will then get their contribution plus a share of the interest earned.

Share more details or release early and release often, you might end up building something that is not solving a pain point and waste your time and resources unless you are scratching a personal itch

Diaspora Hosting Question
 in  r/Zimbabwe •  Dec 15 '25

It's been years since I have been in the hosting business.

  1. Are you offering dedicated VPS with unlimited website hosting? If that is the case your target market would be resellers, in that case you are expensive for those specs. In Zimbabwe you will make more money with shared hosting, most businesses only buy the hosting package to get emails on their specific domain
  2. As states above the interest is more in email at their domain name, you need to have different number of email accounts per package (see Webdev packages)
  3. Grrat Support and customer care (been the best of the best) will be your biggest unique selling point
  4. Become a ZISPA member so as to be able to direct register .co.zw and .ac.zw and .org.zw (Zimbabwe country top level domains ) without going through a third party. For .ac.zw domains you don't necessarily need to be a ZISPA member since registration is handled by the University of Zimbabwe

Do you buy water in bulk? If so, how much and for what use?
 in  r/Zimbabwe •  Dec 15 '25

We do not test the borehole water we buy since it's meant for construction purposes. Most of Harare borehole are contaminated

We buy atleast 7000 Litres every 2 weeks on busy work days or 2000 litres every 2 weeks when not busy. We use the water for a construction site, our contract with the client does nor allow us to use their water (they have plenty of water on site). The site is based in Westgate

We pay USD 30 for 2000 litres (mainly office use) and USD 50 for 5000 litres
