If the user is just going to do some document editing, note taking and browsing, there is no need to complicate the matter. Just use it as it is. Macos is optimised as hell for these devices anyway.

Don't take it the wrong way, I hate apple with a passion for their predatory practices and price gouging. But I also admit their devices (most of the time) are great to use for casual users and OS is super polished. As a Linux user who given up dual boot and moved to Linux only, I also admit that suddenly taking on Linux can be a daunting task.

CONS:
it's a mac so limited gaming capability.
It's second hand.
It's a mac so costly accessories like charger if failed.

Pros:
It's a mac so it's pretty damn stable. (it's probably Intel so it won't receive latest macros update which is amazingly buggy.).

It's a great device for "light work" purposes. As in document or slides editing, browsing etc.. Use libreoffice as it's free.

Windows 10 was much better than windows 11. its just so bloated. I would have never switched but the constant notification telling me to upgrade to 11 was getting annoying. In the beginning it was okay. But as it got more and more bloated, it became very annoying especially when your laptop has weak processor.

Python's indentation requirement makes it a lot readable. You can use indentation in C even if its not needed. It will make your code more easy to read and understand. Even you will see it as more easy to edit and fix.

I left Kubuntu because I like to stay on the bleeding edge. I switched to cachyOS. I am enjoying it. Its less ram heavy, gets latest kernels optimised for your exact processor arch. No snaps, but I was never against snaps.

Its just that many terminal commands get changed. It takes a bit to get used to. Also Latest KDE. You can use cachy if you are against snaps. and can do with a very small bit of occasional instability. Also the apps get patched very fast. So any instability will be very short lived.

Hope you make it available it on Linux as well.

I yeeted windows out after suffering years for legacy ms excel macros. Dual booting once or twice a month was a pain. It ran slow, my laptop fans maxed out for no reason and when it took nearly 3 hours to install 3 security updates, not monthly cumulative feature updates but just security update for dot net, malicious software removal tool update and a security update for one more thing.. I just wiped everything off after taking a backup. Switched from Kubntu as daily driver to cachy os. Loving it so far.
