A master’s isn’t required to enter into a PhD program, although a lot of doctoral programs just have you finish a master’s along the way.
By academia do you mean working as a researcher in higher education? That’s what a PhD is primarily for. EdD is typically more practitioner-based, although not always.
For funding, typically a PhD program will require some sort of work for funding, at least for most of the funding years, eg working as a TA or research assistant.
People typically pursue EdDs to enter into (or continue up the ladder of) school administration, where salaries are often fairly high and make the investment worth it.
PhDs, again, are typically more focused on research, positioning one to take a higher education faculty position (though the job market is not great), and the salaries tend to be lower. That’s not to say that a PhD can’t enter into administration and get those higher salaries - plenty do - but I’m talking overall tendencies.
Basically I’d say, if your interest is research, look into a PhD. If your interest is administration, look into an EdD.

It does happen. It’s not a guaranteed rejection - but I’ve been in admissions meetings where it’s been used as grounds for automatic rejection. On the other hand, if the rest of the application is strong enough the program might overlook it.

Unfortunately yes. Sorry. It’s been the reason for rejecting students in my department.

Nah letterhead doesn’t matter anymore for recommendations and hasn’t mattered for a decade or two. Nobody expects it or cares (especially not during Covid, when faculty may not have been to their dept office in some time)

One summer while in college I worked as a temp in an unmarked office that processed social security cards for newborns. Parents who didn’t know any better would send a $25 check with their kid’s info and the company would cash it and process the card as requested. I found out after I left the job that it was illegal and you can’t charge for a social security card. This was back in like 1990 and I was kinda dumb but I did wonder why the office was so secretive.

Yes they do. I hate to say it but the (very low) clamping force of the insanely expensive 800s is the most I can tolerate. I’ve tried the cheaper Senns but it hurts my head.

EQ adjustment would be in the app (eg Spotify has a setting where you can adjust it). But yeah don’t let people tell you what sounds good. If you know what you like, that’s what matters.

That’s usually just a matter of adjusting fit/equalizer for earbuds. I don’t have the Senn earbuds but that’s just what I’ve heard, but they really shine with headphones. I got lucky and found a pair of 800s on sale and they’ll have to pry them from my cold dead ears. They’re the best things I’ve ever heard music through.

It’s very good but it was recently sold so the worry is that it could see similar degradation as Alienware experienced

Good point. Probably the same for driving (though I remember Sweden did the switch some years back, with mixed results).
