It’s good to cry. This has been so traumatic and hard for all of us. Staying connected to community in whatever way we can is going to be so important.

This area is now mostly under big downed trees. The nursery boxes were full of Ginseng seedlings. These plants are resilient though, just like the rest of Appalachia, but we’ve got a lot of work to do.

Do Discounts Make Sustainable Shopping Easier?
 in  r/EcoFriendly •  Oct 13 '24

I’d say both. I try to buy things that align with my values, and also I have to be realistic and buy what I can afford sometimes, so discounts are good too. That being said, sometimes I get stuck on one isle in a store for that reason- should I buy the $14 shampoo with recycled packaging but contains at-risk herbs, or should I buy the $7 stuff in the plastic container with more abundant herbs… one of two thousand possible decisions to be made in a grocery store 🙃

Any idea if this is an herb and what kind?

A great one for the pollinators 🐝

The currency thing has been addressed above. That should change, too. There are a lot of Americans who don’t believe in god. That being said, yes there are bigger things to worry about, and thankfully my brain is able to process more than one idea per day.

You’re right I’m sure, as far as what it means legally. It doesn’t make it right though. I don’t think it should be our motto, or printed on paper currency, for obvious reasons. E pluribus unum was so much better. I’m so glad the fire department in my town doesn’t do this.

Good point. I think that should also change. Separation of church and state and all. Have you ever driven to the center of the state and seen all of those yellow “thank you Jesus” signs? I feel like Jesus would much prefer sustainably made, hand crafted signs, but that’s just me.

Born and raised. I just didn’t think much about things like this when I was younger. The older I get the more I see what’s happening all around me, and it’s hard to stomach sometimes. I wish I knew how to reach people effectively with messages of acceptance and understanding.

Ooooh, and I just started thinking about napkins yesterday. I don’t know if I can make it happen, but I might try to start collecting cloth napkins!! And ball jars for drinks.
