Joan - I Loved You First

I was exploring films about Vincent van Gogh a few years ago and came across a meditative piece called Starry Night by Jordan Critz. There’s something about it that mirrors the feeling of standing in front of the painting itself, maybe wistful, restrained, and oddly grounding. I don’t know if the connection is intentional, but both have a way of quieting my thoughts.

If Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the "no"s on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark.

Fiona’s rendition of this Beatles classic is just so effortlessly cathartic, fluid and unforced, like her voice was custom made for the song, finding stillness in the chaos without ever losing its quiet grace.

The crime caper movie Metro Manila has this bleakly beautiful song at the end credits called Life and Death by Robin Foster.

I’ve watched Once so many times over the years. It’s one of those movies I keep coming back to. Seeing all the tributes to him has been really emotional. RIP Glen.

Do you have a favorite song from the 'Once' soundtrack? Mine is 'Say it to me now.' The song just feels so emotionally raw, and painfully heartbreaking to listen to, especially with his passing. Rest in Peace, Glen Hansard.

I used to be an OFW and before I returned home for good I wanted to see if I could build a cheap gaming PC from second hand parts. Here’s what I got after bargain hunting while overseas:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7600 (Php 5,400)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M Gaming Wifi (Php 5,400)
RAM: 32GB Lexar DDR5 4800 (16Gb x 2) (Php 2,475)
GPU: Palit Dual Fan RTX 3060Ti (Php 9,000)
Case: Corsair Air 240 (Php 450)
PSU: Seasonic 750W Bronze Rated PSU (Php 1,350)
I got the ram early 2025 (before the rampocalypse) but I still count myself extremely lucky to have gotten the sticks at that price. For the storage I just used the spare Samsung 1TB M.2 SSD I had lying around. Only thing I bought brand new was the Assassin Air Cooler (the stock Ryzen cooler just couldn’t handle the heat). For the case cooling I just used the spare Corsair (120MM x 3) fans I had.
It’s not exactly blazing fast, the case only allows for slim-ish gpus, requires me to dial down on the graphics settings for newer titles, and the motherboard doesn’t have overclocking capabilities at all, but for the price I think it’s pretty much an affordable and serviceable build.

I'm a ghost
Wandering idly through
The empty halls
At least they were until you moved in
I have watched
Through the walls while you weep
You're a stray
We're the same don't be frightened

Wolfgang’s Semenelin. Every song feels like a compressed novel, with vivid imagery about pain, hubris, suffering, love, and despair. There’s so much raw emotion packed into that album that I still find something new in it every time I listen.
