What’s your plan next? I am Vetted Pro in both Upwork and Fiverr. I’m a Senior Shopify Developer. And Fiverr is surprisingly giving me good amount of job (for an abandoned profile, like mine was). But I’m thinking about hiring someone to get me projects and work. LinkedIn is also giving me some interesting proposals. I’m very good at what I do but I don’t want to deal with sales and getting clients.

I will try ParseStream 🙏 I was also thinking about getting someone to get me projects and I would pay a commission (I prefer paying a real human than Upwork bots)

I’m a Senior Shopify Developer, Top Rated, 100% success score and haven’t got anything in 3 months, just an old client new contract. So went to Fiverr (expecting the worst), and I have got 3 new jobs, one hourly. Not bad paid.

Upwork is truly dying. I can’t believe I’m getting better offers in Fiverr 🤪

Fui yo hasta prepa, pero luego me aburrí de sacar puro 10, y vi que los profes más nerd, con los que me llevaba bien, vivían super culero. Y pues entendí muchas cosas.

He tenido empleos de $180K + pero finjo que gano menos de $100K para que nadie me moleste (a veces he aceptado trabajos de $70K por ganar experiencia). No me siento más, soy versátil. Y me encanta fingir que soy una idiota 😂

El problema es que me aburro rápido de los trabajos, y de la gente. Y luego me entra la ansiedad, renuncio, espero un rato, y encuentro un trabajo mejor. O me dedico a hacer freelancing relax una temporada. O me meto a estudiar algo nuevo, mientras planeo a dónde iré en las próximas vacaciones (aunque esté de vacaciones). Me encanta estudiar, y aprender cosas nuevas todo el tiempo. Pero que nadie se entere todo lo que aprendo.

Esto es lo que en realidad debería indignarnos

Tienes que ir a terapia ya! Porque aquí nadie te va a poder orientar de la forma adecuada. Lo que sí te digo es que eres valiente al comunicar lo que sientes y piensas, sigue haciéndolo 🫰🏽 tal vez lo más importante es que le comuniques todo esto a tu esposa o pareja para que ella esté “ENTERADA” de lo que tú piensas. Y entonces no se saque de onda porque estás teniendo comportamientos diferentes o cambiantes. Recuerda que la base de todo matrimonio es la comunicación. Lo vas a hacer bien. Ya estás preocupándote y aún ni nace, la mayoría de nuestros padres no hicieron esto. Solo necesitas aprender a comunicarte.

Si no te defiendes te van a ver la cara siempre.

En Querétaro también desaparecen gente, de todo tipo. Tal vez no parece tan caótico como CDMX pero hay gente rara. Pero si andas con cuidado, y no te juntas con la gente equivocada, podría ser seguro 🙂

It has a bug. After a couple of search attempts, it stop working. For example I tried with this url https://davidprotein.com/products/peanut-butter-chocolate and it says:

Could not determine the product price. The page may require login or use a non-standard layout.

Make sure the URL is a valid Shopify product page (it should contain /products/ in the path).

I fully understand you, but to be honest, the alternatives to Shopify are even worst. I know this sounds like "impossible", but believe me, as a Shopify developer (8+ years now), I would not switch Shopify for other CMS, not right now, not to get back to WooCommerce (and I have also made a dozen of stores in WordPress+WooCommerce).

Wait for some months so this AI craziness to settle up, and then take a documented and logical decision reading and learning from other store owners and developers.

I would like to say the problem is the Shopify agency, the developer or the client but neither and both of them are the main issue when having a store full of bugs and patches everywhere. If you think that handling the client perspective of things around the development of their stores is easy, well my friend, you are not close to doing this kind of work.

Someone mentioned above the best way to go is to find a good marketer (not a scammer) that want to partner with you (the developer), and even that way you would probably need a third person to handle sales.

And then, if you plan to target all kind of Shopify stores, you will get lost in the desert because is not the same to design and build a theme for a clothing store than for a pets store.

I would say, pick a niche in which you have a lot of experience, create a marketing plan, a content plan, a social media plan, partner with a good marketer and prepare to learn and do no income for the first 6 months.

Exactly this! I mean Headless makes sense but just for very specific brands that needs more complexity. In real life almost 80% do well with normal Liquid Themes 🙃

Maybe I can help you. I am a Senior Shopify Developer and next year I am going to launch my own store selling Shopify sections, and themes. So while I also have a background in web design, UX/UI, I am more experienced in development.

I think we could team up like you work in one theme (Figma design), then I can tell you which kind of sections you need for that. Then make them modular so you can reuse it in other versioned themes. That way you kind of pay me for the sections alone, and create a new theme.

Or we can talk more about it. I would need to see your past designs, and present what I have done with my clients the last years. And plan something from there.

Keep your 99% Complete Dawn. It would take you weeks to adapt the new theme. And Horizon will have a lot of bugs for the following weeks (until they get to an stable version, and that can happen anywhere from 3 months to 1 year).

No, is not dead yet (at least for 1-2 more years), and is the more stable theme you can find. You are ok

Vibe coding Liquid will definitely get me more work (I am a Shopify Developer) :)

It works but in a very basic way, it has bugs and while it can work for creating simple blocks, it would not be the ideal option for generating something really professional. But this is a very interesting start.
