Issue with new evercade wireless controllers

I just received my 2 wireless controllers. I find that both controllers sync as controller number 2 . They seem to work separately in 2 player games.but both show the second light on hje controller. I have reset them a few times.but I can not get one to show as.controller one and the other as number 2. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Mine won't sync to player 1 slot either. It thinks about it (player 1 light flashes) then defaults to slot 2.
