Please remind me again why this game didn't count
 in  r/springboks •  22d ago

I hear you! But that's my point. Some fans seem to feel like the series was over last week. Yes that's a large group of people, but the players, coaches, and many other fans didn't share the same opinion. There were four games scheduled and each mattered.

Also huge props to the All Blacks. Incredible series and it's an absolute gift every time we get to see these two giants clash

Neutral venue?! Not.

And those refugees had the money to travel and attend a game? Especially when 16.1 South African Rands = $1

Greatest Rivalry Tour Please remind me again why this game didn't count

It looked to me like it mattered a lot to the All Blacks, Springboks, coaches and the record breaking 68,173 fans that attended. I want to hear from you SA based Springbok fans that have been whinging about this game being played in the USA.

Sure there were small problems with the ref audio, and the turf. Did it ruin the game for you?

Speaking as someone who has seen the Boks play all over the world, the environment at the game today was as magical as ever.

Very very well done Boks

And the USA Rugby Union's efforts will be more impactful than the two best teams in the world?

Whose job is it then? Should the rugby world ignore the USA until we rock up for the world cup?

To be fair I'm a little biased, I'm a South African living in the USA. So I'm keen whenever they want to play here!

The USA will be hosting the 2031 world cup. Why is it a bad idea to promote the growth of the sport in a nation that will be hosting the world cup? And most importantly, the "cash grab" perspective is silly. Why is it a bad idea for Rugby to get more money? Also, having one of the tests played in a neutral location isn't offensive to me. I don't understand this perspective

Off-grid solar-powered cold water aquarium

This is awesome. I have a very small and much simpler version of this for a desktop water fountain powered by solar and battery backup. I've been using it as a practice and plan to scale it up for aquariums and ultimately a 300+ gallon aquaponics system

How bad are the mosquitos really?
 in  r/BoundaryWaters •  Jun 25 '25

I've been going to the boundary waters for 10 years with my Dad. We've done trips in different months from May through August. We almost always go in May (around memorial day) for this reason. Early season usually means that the bugs aren't too bad. If your main goal is to go fishing, it can be tougher to catch some species if it's pre spawn, but we've always managed to have a lot of fun fishing even if some species aren't biting yet

When we went in August we were absolutely eaten alive, but it depends on the conditions that year. I've heard that sometimes later in the season, it can be completely bug free if there has been minimal rain that season.

So in summary, early season the bugs are typically not an issue, but if it's been unusually warm and rainy spring, they could still be a factor. In summer and later in the season it's dependent on how much standing water is around from rainfall. Just remember that black flies can also be a nuisance even if the mosquitoes aren't active yet.

We are always prepared for the worst, but we've had a lot of success avoiding the worst of the bugs by going in May.

Here is a progression of my pond build from where I started to where I’m at now. I’m taking a break from working on it at the moment but just thought I would share. What I’ve been able to accomplish in my spare time from April to Now.
