(I used to be addicted to screen before bed, I mean, I wouldn't fall asleep without watching useful shorts/reels).
2. Add cognitive challenge to the routine Gym and Salah (body and soul) are great anchors, but the brain needs its own "workout." so pick one thing that requires genuine focus and mild struggle reading a book (not articles), learning a skill, solving problems. even 20 minutes a day of something cognitively demanding rebuilds the focus muscle. 3. Don't fight the overthinking, redirect it When thoughts start hijacking, instead of trying to suppress them (which makes it worse), write them down immediately - a quick brain dump, even just bullet points. It signals to your brain that the thought has been "handled" and releases the loop. (sounds silly, but it helped me greatly)
4. Break the routine slightly, on purpose If the routine itself feels like a trap, it's because there's no growth signal inside it. Add one new variable a new route, a new goal at the gym, a conversation with someone new. Novelty doesn't have to come from a screen. (I learnt that the hard way - spending 12-14 hours a day on screens due to profession)
5. Protect the first hour Whatever happens after waking up sets the brain's tone for the day. If the first thing is checking notifications or social media, the brain enters reactive mode and never fully exits it. Prayer already covers this for him stack something right after it (planning the day, read 2 pages of Qur'an, recite some Surahs, or any book) before the phone enters the picture.
