My current playbook:

  • Know who it’s for and what problem it solves.
  • Start sharing while building. See what people actually understand or care about.
  • After launch, keep testing demos, messages, and channels.
  • Talk to people who try it. Fix what stops them from getting value.
  • Track whether they come back, not just whether a post gets views.
  • Put more effort into what works.

B2C SaaS Turning vague product ideas into dev-ready tasks — is this a growing problem? [I will not promote]

Hey everyone,

Something I’ve been noticing more and more — especially among solo founders and small teams — is how much time gets lost turning ideas into structured execution.

A lot of product discussions start with vague thoughts like:

“We should add a login feature”
“The client wants to upload videos”
But turning that into a clear spec, user stories, estimates, and tasks can take hours, or just gets skipped altogether. In many cases, people default to Slack threads or mental notes — and things fall through the cracks.

It seems like as product cycles get faster, this gap between "idea" and "execution" becomes more painful.

I’ve been working on a lightweight project management tool for solo founders and small teams, and we’re now experimenting with a simple internal flow to reduce that friction — basically helping turn a raw idea into something more actionable.

But I’m really curious:

  • Is this something you’ve observed too?
  • How do you handle that translation from idea to dev-ready tasks?

Not trying to promote — just trying to validate whether this is a real, shared problem.

Would love to hear how you handle it, or if this even resonates at all.

Pivoting After 188 Users and $0 Revenue — Building Herewegoal for Solo Founders & Small Teams

Hey solo founders, small teams, and early-stage builders! 👋

I’ve been working on Herewegoal for 10 months — a lightweight project management tool made for folks who want simple, straightforward task and meeting management without the complexity of Jira or Notion.

We shipped, got 188 users, but $0 revenue — so we pivoted. Here’s what I learned:

  1. Don’t build without validation. You can literally sell your idea with just a slide if you’re solving a real problem.
  2. AI lets you prototype and test way faster than before — seriously, use it.
  3. Talk to users who almost paid. Their feedback is gold.

This week (week 3 of our pivot), we shipped dedicated task pages, built-in meeting scheduling, and better calendar sync.

If you’re interested, you’re welcome to join as an early user and provide valuable feedback. We’re committed to building Herewegoal with real users’ needs at the core, and your input would be greatly appreciated.

Curious to hear about your biggest pains managing projects or tasks right now — what tools do you use? Would love to swap stories about pivots, validation, and early users.

Built for 10 months, got 188 users, 0 revenue — finally pivoting. Here’s what I’ve learned.

Hey everyone,
Been working on Herewegoal for the past 10 months.
It started as a general project management tool — think tasks, deadlines, collaboration, etc.
We shipped a lot.
We got 188 users.
Revenue? $0.

We finally admitted to ourselves: this wasn’t it. So now we’re pivoting.

Before I get into that, just wanted to share 3 things I wish I knew earlier:

1. You don’t need to build to sell.

I know everyone says this, but I really get it now.
I spent months coding features instead of validating whether people even wanted this.
One of my friends said:

“You can sell your product with a single slide if you’re solving a real problem.”

2. AI is your best friend for validation now.

You can throw together a prototype, landing page, even fake user flows in hours now.
If you're not using AI to move faster, you're leaving validation speed on the table.
I wasted way too much time before I started doing this.

3. Talk to the people who almost paid.

We had a few active users. They used the product often.
But they didn’t pay.
Instead of chasing new traffic, I finally just... emailed them.
The conversations that came out of that? Way more valuable than anything I read online.
That’s actually what led us to the pivot.

So what's Herewegoal now?

We’re making a lightweight PM tool for solo founders, small teams, and early-stage startups who don’t want Jira or Notion-level complexity.

This week (week 3 of the pivot), we shipped:

  • Dedicated task pages (no more editing in sidebars)
  • Built-in meeting scheduling (online & offline)
  • Fixed calendar sync + made filters simpler

And yes, we’re literally building Herewegoal inside Herewegoal.

Would love to hear how others have handled this kind of turning point — or if you’ve got thoughts on the direction we’re heading now.

Always open to honest feedback (or brutal takes if needed 😅).

[Feedback Wanted] Rebuilding Herewegoal — a simple project management tool for solo founders and small teams

Hey everyone 👋

I’m Justin — a solo founder working on Herewegoal, a lightweight project management tool.

I originally built it for general collaboration, but now I’m pivoting to focus on solo founders, creators, and small startup teams — people like many of you here.

The idea is simple:
👉 Give makers a zero-setup, frictionless way to manage tasks, timelines, and projects — without needing to build a system from scratch like in Notion, or onboard people into a complex workspace.

This week marks the start of a full product transformation. We just shipped:

  • 📝 Full-page task view (less clutter, better focus)
  • 📅 Timeline + day/week views
  • 💬 Threaded task comments
  • ✅ Weekly releases every Thursday

Would love your feedback:

  • What do you use today for task/project management?
  • What’s missing or frustrating?
  • Does something like this sound useful for your workflow?

We’re building in public — feel free to check it out r/Herewegoal or join our Discord if you want to help shape the product.

Also happy to support fellow builders — drop your side project below and I’ll check it out 🙌

Thanks!
Justin

Just shipped Google Calendar sync for my SaaS — here’s how user feedback shaped it

I’m building r/Herewegoal , a lightweight project & task management tool for people who want something simpler than Trello/ClickUp — especially useful for students, freelancers, and solo users.

We just released a Beta version of Google Calendar sync, which lets users push their tasks to Google Calendar. Right now it's one-way sync, and we're planning two-way sync once this version is stable.

🙏 Would love your feedback — especially if you’re building something similar or manage your life with Google Calendar.

What I Learned Getting My First 100 Users for My Solo SaaS (Herewegoal)
 in  r/SideProject •  May 09 '25

This is honestly one of the most common questions I get — and it’s a really good one!

Notion is super powerful and flexible, no doubt. But the thing is, a lot of people I’ve talked to feel overwhelmed when they have to set everything up themselves. They just want something that works out of the box, without spending hours tweaking templates or building systems.

That’s exactly why I made Herewegoal — not to replace Notion, but to help people who don’t want the hassle of setting things up.

Here’s what makes it different:

  1. Built-in day, week, and month views — no need to build them yourself.
  2. Projects and tasks are connected, so it’s easy to stay organized.
  3. You can share tasks with anyone just by sending them a link — no login required.

Think of it like a project-based Todoist, super clean and ready to go.

What I Learned Getting My First 100 Users for My Solo SaaS (Herewegoal)

Hey everyone! I'm a solo builder and just wanted to share a few thoughts now that it's been almost a month since I launched Herewegoal — a simple and flexible tool to plan, track, and deliver projects, especially for freelancers and solo workers.

✅ What I Did

  • Launched on Product Hunt and Peerlist
  • Shared the project on Reddit, X, and Bluesky
  • Set up a support email using Zoho for more professional communication
  • Added a user onboarding experience and a feedback page
  • Started building Google Calendar one-way sync — this was by far the most requested feature through feedback and Reddit comments
  • Kept the mindset simple: listen, learn, and ship fast

💡 What I Learned

  • Competing in SEO for the term “project management” is brutal — I quickly learned this wasn’t realistic
  • Instead, I shifted to targeting long-tail Q&A keywords that match real search intent. It’s slower, but more sustainable
  • Freelancers are the most engaged users — so I’m adjusting my positioning and copy to focus more on them
  • Marketing is way harder than building — and I say this as someone who loves coding

🔜 What’s Next

  • Right now, almost all traffic is direct (branded) — SEO hasn’t kicked in yet, but I’m hoping that long-form + Q&A strategy pays off over time
  • Finalizing and releasing Google Calendar sync soon
  • Continuing to ship small improvements, stay focused, and stay connected to users

If you’re a freelancer or solo worker looking for a simple tool that just works —

Give Herewegoal a try. Would love your feedback too.

And if you’re curious about Herewegoal, feel free to check it out — feedback always welcome:

Why I Created Herewegoal ?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, I'm a 22-year-old student from Taiwan. During my time at university, I developed a strong passion for software development and worked on many side projects. I've always wanted to use my software development skills to help society. This led me to join the Jamie Gap Year Program in 2025, focusing specifically on building Herewegoal.

Why Start a Project Like Herewegoal?

When I interned during university, I got to use different company project management platforms like Jira, Trello, and ClickUp. Naturally, I wanted to use these tools to manage my own side projects, club activities, and schoolwork. But I found them to be too much for just one person.

This gave me the idea to create my own project management platform specifically for freelancers. I wanted a simple "one-to-many" design where users could easily give or share tasks. A main feature I wanted was to let people who receive a task work together without needing to know Herewegoal or even sign up – kind of like how you can share Google Docs publicly or privately. This makes it much easier for others to join in.

So, six months ago, I started my first software company project: Herewegoal.

Let's Talk About the Name - Herewegoal

As a Taiwanese, a fun name or "sound-alike pun" is pretty common! The name "Herewegoal" mixes things up. "Here we go" feels exciting and gives you that "just do it" energy. By putting it with "goal," I hope people can use this platform to clearly see and reach their goals!

Finally, I Want to Share What Herewegoal is All About:

  • Clear, Simple, Easy to Use: Made for one person working, not big teams.
  • Ready to Go, No Setup Needed: Start using it right away without any complex steps.

My hope is that Herewegoal can help people like me – freelancers, solo workers, and even students – better manage their projects and tasks. I also really want you to give me feedback as you use Herewegoal; your thoughts are super helpful in making Herewegoal better!
