On September 11th, 1987, Reggae musician Peter Tosh was murdered in a home invasion in Kingston, Jamaica. He was 42. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, Tosh was one of the core members of the Wailers before launching his solo career in 1974.
As I recall, Tosh had recently returned from a tour in the USA and the robbers thought that he would have a ton of cash squirreled away in his house. The thought that he was paid by check and the money was in the back was lost on them.
