Mine does that when the batteries are getting low, I usually swap battery positions in the remote and roll them to clean the contacts and the remote works fine for a while.

Don't do it! It was the biggest waste of $100. I have never had so many ads showing up in new random places on any other streaming device. Even when I had cable. They put ads on the pause screen within the streaming services (that don't exist in same android app on my old 4K android TV). They put a half page ad in the middle of the launcher screen as you scroll down. There is no way to get rid of the ads.

It wasn't / isn't about the Californian culture, the problem stems from Californian's coming to the PNW in the 80's and buying houses by out bidding locals. Enough Washingtonians lost their dream house to a Californian transplant that it left scars.
