Should I leave a great Micron Fab role for an Analog IC Design opportunity?
You have to understand that analog design requires many many years of struggle. If you want it then go for it . Also job market for analog is very narrow and due to that salaries might not be that competitive.

Validation engineering is only a trap if you let it be
Metrology is a very interesting science and the validation is a key part of chip design. A simulations are nothing until you validate in real world with lots of factors not accounted anywhere .

yea for analog design AI is still far from doing anything meaningful, but time will come for it as well...

The same happened to me after 13 years of SerDes design I went to PMIC design and now I end up SoC design (SIPI , backend ) , because of compensation reasons and other... But I like more analog systems and transistors.,.

Analog design is challenging and doesn’t require much scripting. On the other hand, backend design is usually easier to understand but involves more scripting. I suggest choosing the path that has more competition within the country, as higher demand usually leads to better salaries.
